Hey all. I had a few questions left (after searching of course) about swapping an SR20ve to rwd. This swap will be going into my Datsun. Everything I have searched is DE or DET bottom end with the VE head so I have pretty much found the tech I need if I go that route.

However there is an older post of a gent selling adapters to bolt the complete SR20VE block and head to an early L series trans which will make it RWD. My biggest question is are the VE blocks the same as the DET/DE ie are there provisions for the DET motor mounts already there?

Thanks

FWD blocks as I understand it have different bolting points for the mounts so it wouldn't line up. You would need to custom make mounts. You can try and PM the guy he might reply, duno if he is still making them it's been a long time.

As above, the RWD mounting brackets do not exist on a FWD motor, they have different castings and different sump setups :)

pm dimedave (the fellow who made the plates) and see if he still has any available.

The site does not have photos at this time but there is an on-line photo album at: http://tinyurl.com/y9ldvqg

Also,FutoFab is in the process of developing mounts for the FWD block to the 68-73 Datsun 510, using the OE rubber engine mounts.

FutoFab also offers the Reverse Crossmember modification for front sump engines like the SR & KA's. We use a jig that holds the crossmember for both the cutting and welding to assure original alignment after modifications are made.

Yeah dude it will work on a DE block. I used a S14 , I have it RWD SR20VE in my 1971 510. Haha! Luis (on this site, sticky) has a whole thread on the head swap. Datsport, or McKinney, SR mount kits. There a bunch of different brands out there and you can make your own!
