Inquiring minds want to know. How about an event report. I see 2 in PTE were DQ'ed per mylaps.com..

Help fill in my racing void.... anybody?

i ran a 19.2 in practice. broken tranny on the first lap of the race. the DQs were due to some strange double yellow thing going on. i was watching from the dan river and i couldn't figure out what the hell start finish station was doing. i don't know the details.

Hi, Bill/David. I brain faded and passed under yellow. David Rhodes followed me and got the same DQ. I was 100% in the wrong... only PUY and only DQ in my 4th year of racing. I don't know what the heck I was doing. Steve ran away with it and no one could catch him. We got strung out and that was that.

Anyway, on Sunday we had a great race. We had a four way dice going on at one point. The final order was me, Steve, Wade. Steve and i swapped positions a couple of times and Wade almost got by us all in the 3,4,5 area.

David Rhodes got moved to PTD b/c he was just getting too fast in AJ's car. His plan is to get the car legal for PTE and race with us. That's great news for everyone. Unfortunately for him the the process will involve putting in a new, unmodified motor.

I hope you get your car ready for march!

Sorry I missed everyone.
Congrats to Harper and Scott on the wins.

I just reg. for the March event.
Bringing the new Impala. I think that's the body it has on it???
Some Chevy of some sort.....

Here's my short summary…

Good parts
Saturday: set fast lap during race at 2:19.2 (my PR)
Sunday: set fast lap during race (new PTE track record for VIR North!), lots of tight racing (which I should have good video of)

Bad parts
Saturday: came in 2nd, was about 25 ft behind Stephen, FCY for last several laps due to Miata carnage so never had an opportunity to make a run at him.
Sunday: starter broke, came in 3rd, got hit hard by the PTD CRX and knocked off course - game over.

One other interesting thing that happened was that they dyno'd the top 3 finishers from the Sat race. Since I hadn't been DQ'd officially (yet) I got on the dyno along with Steve and Wade.

My minimum weight is 2501 lb. My post race weight was 2515 lb and I got two runs on the dyno. The first was 164.06 HP while the second was 161 HP.

Unfortunately, at 2515 lb, I can only make 2515/15.44= 162.88 hp.

That meant that if you take the higher of the two runs that I was illegal in PTE by 164.06-162.88=1.18 HP. Oops. I actually felt a little bad about being over the number b/c Wade, Steve, and I have a lot of rules discussions and a gentleman's agreement to have legal cars.

I thought that I was OK (legal) when I arrived at the track. I dyno'd the car the week before the race and got 158,159,162. So for the next race I'll add a little weight or possibly back the timing off by 1-2 deg and re-dyno.

Wow, sounds like a lot of fun (sort of).

Wish I could have made it, but funds aren't there as of yet. The snow has also put a damper on my spring maintenance. I am planning on the April Summit event though, and look forward to seeing all of you.. Sadly, it will likely be as you lap me :)

No worries about too much HP/WT here. Stock junk yard motors and being way over weight pretty much precludes me from that issue. Just call me back marker.

See ya in April

My three dyno runs were very consistent at 155-156 hp.

Bill sorry, slow to respond.

Good weekend for me, took pole on sat with a 2:19 and change, ended up opening a small gap over wade for most of the race, and took the win under the full course checker.

Sunday on the north course, managed pole again, got a bad jump on the standing start and scott got by me into one. On the second lap i got a little bit of a run coming out of one and used it to dive up insider of scott in three. Scott chased me for the rest of that lap, made a move coming into one which forced me outside, David in the crx followed scott and david and I drag raced towards three. David didn't realize i was still there and came over on me going through two, actually forcing me to brake hard at two (the kink before you get to three) and hit me in the right front tire. He got past me at that point, i recoverd and began chase while trying to fend off wade. I pressurred david into one on the next lap and ended up going off on outside of one and i set off after scott who had about a 10 to 15 car gap. I gained a little ground back on scott, i was quicker on the turn into the crossover and the blind corner (steve wonder?) in the crossover, he was quicker coming out of one. We got side by side a few times if I recall in the race, i got held up by traffic, wade caought me, got around me going through one, i got wade back going into the crossover turn and we finished that way, Scott, Me, Wade David. Ironically wade had the fastest lap 1:45 925, i had 1:45 947 and scott had a 1:46.1

Eric Roper raced both days. he finally has his car making some power after putting cams and a header on it this offseason. He just needs more track time and some better tires to get up there with the rest of us!

great race on sunday, great racing all weekend

Sorry david martin's tranny broke, and I hope he gets it fixed and hoped to see david rhodes out there again.Inquiring minds want to know. How about an event report. I see 2 in PTE were DQ'ed per mylaps.com..

Again, sounds like a blast. I was SO wanting to be there...

Hopefully Erik will be running at summit so I will have someone to race. It appears by the look of things is new like me.

I just reg. for the March event.

Scratch that, Just noticed the fuel cell requirement for new log books.
Not going to buy a $$$ FIA fuel cell for the 1 or 2 weekends I would road race it when the one I have is just fine for my local track.

Keep'n it on the short track.
