i did (accidently of course), and it didnt do **it; i even beat on it and brought it up to 8k- so for those of you on a budget- 87 gas wont hurt your engine with stock timing, not even a hint of detonation:biggthump

Whether what you say is true (don't worry about octane in a VE) will depend on the timing map and conditions as well as the base timing setting. For example, are you sure that you wouldn't get detonation in the middle of a Florida summer?

i about crapped my self once when a gas station attendant (was in oregon an they pump your gas for you) put 87 in my car.. i only put in 10 bux.. but then had to put another damn 10 in of 92 just to feel "safe" lol.. an ya i didnt have any problems, but i'll try my hardest not to make that mistake again!

Nah, I honestly wouldn't suggest doin that unless u have a hook-up on the ve motors and don't mind swapping a messed up 1.

Sorry for jacking the thread but I am running my DE ECU? Is it ok to run 87? I have not had any problems so far but I decided to run 91 couple a day ago just to see if there is a difference.

the only thing more fail than 87 is deisel!

It blows my mind that people think they're smarter than the engineers that built their motors. High compression motors need high octane. Risking $1000+ motors for 2 bucks cheaper gas = retard.

When I worked at mazda people would always bring their turbo charged speed 3's 6's or an rx8 in and complain about pinging or not running right. I'd look around the car and find reciepts for 87 octane. They'd always swear they were putting 91 in them.

ya know guys, its cool to smoke weed, even if it loses your house, wife/gf, job ect. but when you look down and realize your putting 87 in your car, its time to quit.

lol I have only put 91 in because the motor is new and only had 43xxx when i got it i rather take care of the motor while I have it.
