hello, my name is lee. ive been in the import performance scene for the past 6 years since my first car. ive had a 96 eclipse rs n/t, 98 eclipse fwd turbo, and my most current 92 stealth rt twin turbo awd. well my stealth is probably the least reliable car on earth, so I decided a nissan, honda, or toyota would be my solution.
i found a 96 or 98 sentra ser 200sx, not sure exactly on the year. 110k on the clock. 5 spd, good clutch, good wheels/tires... it has a few minor problems. window switches are sunk into the doors, front signals dont work, heat takes a second to warm up. the only issue thats concerning me is the 5 spd trans. it is hard to get in gear.you put it in the spot right before it goes into gear, then you gotta PUSH! push really hard. even when the car is moving. it doesnt grind or anything though.
what am i looking at? the guy selling it says it needs bushings on the shifter, but im not going to rip apart the boot and under hood to check the bushings on his lot. has anyone had this experience before?
whats a 5 spd trans run around for these cars if it needed to be replaced? i saw posts of 150-250$, but i dont beleive. i dropped 1400 on my stealth trans, although its awd
