I found a really worn rear bushing on a control arm on my car yesterday. It's so shot that the car makes a clack during shifting or when I blip the throttle. I had bought some ebay control arms as replacements and the components have proven to be junk.

My question is are ES bushings the way to go for replacement? I looked into it a while back and remember reading of whiteline bushings or something like that as well.

Anyone sucessfully used these on aftermarket control arms along with moog ball joints? Kind of hesitant as I don't know that the ebay control arms cores would even work with the new ball joints and bushings. Might be better just to go with some junkyard factory control arms.

BTW, this setup will not be for track, just spirited DD.

Unless you're young and full of piss-and-vinegar, don't use urethane bushings for your daily driver.

Although I had poly bushings in a lesser car than my NX (it was a saturn), my ride quality didn't suffer at all. Steering response increased nicely.

Thanks to both of you all for the input. I'll likely just give em a shot if I can determine that they'll work w/ the leftover ebay control arms I have. They can't be any worse than the POS bushings that came with those. My main concern is the car holding alignment along with good tire wear. If the ride ends up too harsh, I guess I'll just be out the $30 for the bushings + some extra time for labor.

Well I took the bad control arms off the car this morning. Below is a pic of the old control arm. The rear bushing was so worn that it just fell right off the control arm while I was removing it from the car! I checked the new ES rear bushing and it will fit on the control arm with just a tad of resistance going on. However, I was looking at the ES diagram and the picture for the control arm that they show has like a lobe on it that locks the bushing in place. Looking at the new ES bushing I see that it has a groove inside too where this would lock in place.

Do you think this should be OK to install on this aftermarket control arm, or is the bushing likely to have problems???

You should be fine with the ES bushing.
