My AFR was 10:1 at the end of last year  find a shady guy to pass you Haha.. CT cracked down on that.. Not so easy anymore. SUNNYGTR93 03-05-2010, 07:59 PM yeaaa..move to Florida! No emissions! SuperblackZ 04-12-2010, 01:33 PM find a shady guy to pass you Spoken like someone who lives in PA or NY. ;) Doesn't work here, or I don't have enough friends in low places. :( SuperblackZ 04-12-2010, 01:52 PM B14... At least you don't have to pass a wand test, do you? If no codes all good? Ground issues (anywhere)? O2 sensor new/old, sensor is well-grounded? Transient codes often are electrical problems vs. real problems. Feel your pain, my reg expired after my last test (fail - NOx, and this just my 10:1 JDM NA motor!), and this wonderful state impounding cars w/expired reg means my car is grounded. Working on getting it back on the road this week or I miss NJMP 2-day NASA/PDA this weekend  Going back to another cat, timing, O2 sensor, stock ECU instead of my JWT custom tune, all stuff that will change right back (except O2 sensor, it needs one) when I pass. Pisses me off, the car runs great with best-ever power, and I did a ton of work for track-readiness before it expired. Brakes all new, every fluid changed, etc. And it's effin grounded in my driveway. Tough part is which cat, which here I think is key given you can only do so much with mods on the car. Magna HFC I had blew its guts (Ceramic Substrate) all over the road after breaking up from hard impacts (track), it was totally empty when I took it off. Then the Eastern Cat Direct fit replacement didn't do the trick even with 500 miles of break-in, although numbers dropped a lot (lol, vs "no cat"). Also a Ceramic-Metal Matrix, then I smoked it through too much time at WOT running a little rich (track again) and it was lighting off flames out the tailpipe. Scratch another cat, the guts are smoked like someone took a torch to it. Last fail was worst-ever. Lesson learned is the Magna shell goes back on after passing. Trouble is finding a good direct fit replacement that will do the trick with our low NOx standards. My other B13 made its NOx numbers but just squeaked by 1 ppm on HC. It also has JWT ECU, usual bolt-ons, and had been sitting, so I can sort of see that. Oh, and S3 cams or S4's not sure anymore since I looked at the ECU and "S4" is written on the JWT label. Catco maybe, IDK, my second one passed with an HFC like the Magna (Carsound?)...but it needs a lot more sorting out before it sees any track use, that's not my goal either with that car. Also hoping that the aggressive tune of the ECU vs. OEM stock ECU will help a lot. Base timing is 2 deg more adv, and timing and air/fuel totally different with rising rpms. Good luck man, I wish I could reg my car in FLA, LOL! Half the state seems to, based on all the plates I start to see this time of year. skcusloa 04-12-2010, 04:22 PM what codes? | |
