ok, i have a 98 gxe,..my car has no tach..i was thinking about swapping out clusters with one that has a tach..my question is, is there any wiring that needs to be done to swap these in? or can i just swap and go (would the tach work..jw)

thanks in advance..

If I'm not mistaken, the wiring (dashboard) should be all the same, no matter which trim model you have. Just like in other makes (Honda/Acura), the wire from the distributor (tach) should be implemented into the plug for the gauge cluster.

i think u will need to run a tach signal wire.

Shouldn't there already be a tach wire within one of the 3 plugs (to the cluster)?

I'm almost certain that it isn't the same, but when I did that swap on my b13 I had to re-pin ALL of the wires in the back. I hope 4 ur cause that isn't the case. But if it is good luck! The feeling of finishing finally is really rewarding!

everything is the same all you do have to do is just prob need to do is get a rpm signal from your dissy, other than that just make sure on the back of the cluster i tells you were what every wire is for so just fallow wich ones go where..there almost all in the same place..

so there is no cut and merge just plug play then add in the tach wire?

Same deal with my B13. Is anything ever really plug and play with these cars? It would be advisable to make sure the wires all go to the right places before assuming compatibility. If the B13 and B14 ECUs are similar then you will want to find the BLUE/BLACK wire and tap into that for the tach signal.
