Well i finally got some time to start working on my car getting it prepped for paint and the build. Got the car stripped down and wet sanded today getting ready for the Abyss Blue Pearl from 04-05 Acura TL to be sprayed inside, outside and engine bay.

Bay will consist of full wire tuck.

Keeping my current Built VE block w/ 8cw de crank, Eagle rods w/ARP 2000 bolts, CP det pistons, GTIR main bolts, VET headgasket, VE head with Supertech S&R's and stock cams revving to 9500 rpms, Golden Eagle head studs, custom intake manifold w/Q45 TB, mild port and polish work mainly focusing on the Exhaust ports. Compression should come out to around 9.2:1 or so.

Drivetrain will consist of QR25 04+ 6 speed transmission, P12 bellhousing, Mazworx mount kit, Competition Twin disk w/s15 disks. B15 spindles.

Custom turbo manifold mocked up by me and professionally welded by local shop. T4 open housing flange and 46mm v-band wastegate flange. PTE 46mm wastegate, Precision 6765 w/.96 T4 open housing.

Fuel setup, ID2000 injectors, topfeed rail w/ aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Walbro 255lph intank pump feeding a Bosch 044 inline with -6an line to the rail.

Here are some pics of the work done soo far. Just need to sand down a couple dented areas and do some bondo/finish work and then it will be ready for paint. Got the block all cleaned up. Not bad for 1 year/10k miles on it. Cylinder walls still look great.

Well i finally got a chance to get the car painted. My beautiful wife got me the paint and supplies for my Birthday yesterday.

These are some pics before wet sanding and buffing which ill do in a week when the paint and clear cure. Not too bad at all. All the paint and everything came out to about $260. My buddy Rob did the honors of painting it and i helped along the way.

Came out nice. Here are the pics:

fantastic, should look sick after wetsanding and buffing. i'd start with 1500 grit and either go down or up on the grit depending on how the orange peel smoothes out. i'd use menzerna polishes to get the ultimate shine. great job!

Not really a lot if any orange peel but more just spots that didnt melt in nice and smooth and have that haze to it. Again a 2000 grit paper and wetsanding should smoothen everything out nice and evenly and then some good polish. Ill probably use a Mothers product as ive had very good results with them.

It should definetly turn out nice when done.

Just some updates that i posted up on the other forum. Link to the entire build converstaion and pics can be found

http://www.sr20-forum.com/members-rides/29127-9-second-b13-sentra-se-r-build-update-7-25-10-tucked-harness-parts-14.html

Well i started on tucking the harness and got my main chassis harness done, now i just need to do the main fuse box and relay box. I eliminated all the wires i wasnt going to be using along the way such as all the pre existing harness for the ABS (my car not equipped), the horn, the a/c, and so on. I was fortunate to live in just big enough of a town to find this braided nylon flex loom at a local off-road buggy performance shop.

Here you can see what ive done soo far. Mainly the headlights, corner lights and turn signals, side markers, alternator, radiator fan and electric water pump all in the same main chassis harness. I didnt have to do a lot of extending yet, but i will have to extend some wires for the main fuse box and relay box but very few.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2473.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2474.jpg

Here you can see what i still have left to do as far as the chassis harness goes. Next will be the engine harness, Yay! I love wiring though. To me its a fun challenge and im pretty good at it. It really gives you a great opportunity to know your cars electrical by heart so if you ever have a problem you know exactly where to start looking.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2475.jpg

And here is what ive eliminated from the harness soo far.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2476.jpg

The engine harness will probably have an equal amount of wires taken out as well. The stupid chassis harness took me a good 3-4 hours alone to just de-loom it and sort it all out where i wanted it, take measurements. All in all its gonna be a nice clean wire free looking bay. Love it.

One thing i dont get is some of the stupid wiring Nissan did for the Alternator. They have two wires, one from the battery and one coming from the main fuse block. As they travel over to the passenger side they crimp the wires to make one wire. Then at the alternator they split it back out to make two and have two separate wires to the Alternator + for charging the battery and providing voltage to a section of the fuse block. Its really retarded and they use this nasty goop/tar to insulate and seal the crimps. Needless to say i just made it one single wiring until it splits at the battery and fuse block. Oh well just a little rant. haha

Tommorrow the car gets painted and ill be posting pics. Spend 3 hours with me and a buddy wet sanding the crap out of the clearcoat to get it smooth for repaint and clear. Its gonna turn out well now that we are using a nice booth and the proper Clear activator for this nasty heat we have here. Pics to come tommorrow.

Well the paint job came out sooooo much better this time around. A few flaws but nothing serious and that i am worried about. I spent the entire day wet sanding starting with 800, then 1000, 1500, and then 2000 to finish it off. Then took a 7" polisher and went over with it twice to cut and polish. Still got a bit more to do as i ran out of light. But here is what it looks like soo far. I will get some better pics of it tommorrow.

Well ive spent the last couple days buffing out the car and working on my wiring harness while waiting for parts to come in.

Here are a couple pics of the tucked harness in the car and tied down. Still a couple loose ends to tidy up when i get my H4 bulb pigtails from 99sel-r then finish looming those and the battery positive connections. Other than that the fuse and relay boxes are tucked down in the fender and harness runs along where it wont be seen. Im still keeping the battery (odyssey 15lb) in the bay but without the tray. Gonna make the new tie downs for it later. So thats why the connections are coming in the bay but thats about all that will be seen.

Next thing to work on is the engine harness which ill be doing inside the house as its like 116 deg out today and some humidty. Not fun, matter fact i went to Wal-Mart and bought a pop up shade *** i just couldnt stand it in the sun in the afternoon so i could finish soldering up and wraping the 35 wires or so that i had to reconnect to the harness going inside the car.

Here are the pics.

Here are some pics of some parts i got in. Rocker Arm Stoppers (thanks Wayne)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2508.jpg

Here are the 06 GSX-R 750 Coil on Plugs's (ebay $25 shipped) and BC Springs and Titanium retainers (FRsport.com)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2498.jpg

Ive still left a couple positive wires coming from the main fuse box to power my fan and water pump as i had to take out the old relay because it was obviously getting too hot before running both off the original fan circuit and started to melt the insulation on the wire and the plastic relay connection (not good) so i need to get a beefier relay with thicker wires (such as the one powering the starter signal) and put that in and then another wire is getting run to the back for my second fuel pump.

When i get my parts in ill be doing my fuel system setup to consist of a brand new Walbro 255lph in-tank pump feeding a Bosch 044 inline pump, -8an braided line to 1/2" aluminum hardline to the front back to -8an to the rail, -8an from the rail to the Weldon AFPR, then -6an to the stock feed line now being used as the return to the tank. Plenty of fuel system to support what i need. Ill have a lot more pics to come. Stay tuned.

07-28-2010, 06:31 PM
Well i finished up the chassis harness, hooked up a battery and found out i had the 3 Red w/Blue stripe wires crossed, no biggie. Just unloomed it, found the wires, tested the circuits to see which one was which and swapped them around and whalla. All my headlights and running lights are now working properly. That was the hardest one as there are 4 red w/blue's that are all the same size. haha

So thats fixed and now starting on tucking my engine harness, wrapping it up in braided loom and shortening and lengthening the wires necessary to keep it tucked away and clean. Adding wires for the individual coils, removing wires for all the egr and useless stuff in the harness thats not being used and so on.

Here is the engine harness all deloomed w/some wires removed already, mmmmmm, wiring.

And engine harness is pretty much done. Everything taken out that doesnt belong and wires added for the COP's. I ran out of braided loom so i just need to finish it up by wrapping it up with some when i pick some up tommorrow.

Will be nice and tucked up against the motor and trans with very little to none showing.

Enjoy

Alright, big update with lots of pics and steps. I finally got the motor back together and man it turned out good.

After fearing i wouldnt get a Cosworth headgasket in time due to the product being on backorder everywhere in the country, literally called about 30 shops to find one. All said the same thing. The SR20 Cosworth headgaskets are hotcakes right now. People are finally catching on to how good they really are and especially for the price. Id say its just as good if not better than the PE gasket.

Here is some pics of the motor assembly.

Head was at the machine shop getting the BC valve springs and retainers put in and valve seal checked which after the 10k miles of abuse i put on it and over revs on multiple occasions well past 10k the valves were in perfect condition and no leakdown at all.

I finished up the mild portwork prior to sending it in for springs and retainers. Ports are slightly ported out and mainly focused on the split in the port to thin it out and allow better flow. Removed a couple of the other things that would hinder flow a bit and then port matched them to the manifold. All in all it turned out great.

Here are the pics:

Head is on and bolted down tightly with the Golden Eagle B16a headstuds tightened using the specs given, 25 ft-lbs and loosen 3 times, 25ft lbs, then to 50 ft lbs, then to final torque of 75 ft-lbs. This head isnt going anywhere.

Enjoy, Ill be working on finishing up my wiring harness running the injector clips and 4 more wires for the coils.

Then ill be test fitting the engine and trans in the car and making the necessary cuts to the subframe to clear the trans.
Then start making the turbo manifold after its all bolted in. Ive still got to figure out a clutch situation. Waiting to hear back from Competition Clutch to see if they are gonna make an S15 spec flywheel for the twin disk and give me a new throwout bearing. That should be all i need for it to work perfectly.

Ok small update, as ive spent most of this miserable hot day cleaning out my garage as it was starting to bug me walking around everything to get to what i needed. So after that i mounted up the Mazworx transmission mount w/bracket to the frame.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2765.jpg

And mounted my massive 32"X12"X4", 4 core intercooler back up in place and kinda test fitting the hotside piping so you can picture where im gonna be mounting my turbo at. Nice fresh air through the grill opening. The pipe will of course be cut as well and ill be using all T-bolt clamps this time around, not half and half. No more blowing off couplers.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2761.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2762.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2763.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2764.jpg

As far as the coldside im gonna bring it right up under the frame and up in front of the trans to the throttle body. I will have plenty of room there now that my exhaust wont be exiting on that side anymore. Should work out great. If i really wanted to i could have closed up the two massive gaping holes i cut for my previous intercooler piping but eh, its alright. Doesnt really bug me.

Also mounted my tsuru two clear tails and i love that the harness clips right in without any cutting or modification. haha

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2766.jpg

Update!!!

Alright after literally sweating my ass off working out in this heat it was a slow process but i got the motor and trans bolted up for test fitting. Everything turned out alright. I think the transmission side mount bracket that i picked up off a 5 speed altima is different than the spec V. It appears the transmission is not sitting up high enough and causing problems with bolting the crossmember up. I can see right off that engine is angled down just a bit towards the driver side. So im thinking the Spec V mount bracket will solve this problem. Here are the pics of the whole process of test fitting to see where i had to cut the subframe.

Here is the motor and trans bolted up together. Soo beefy....

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2768.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2769.jpg

Here was after getting it in place and lowering the car down to see where cutting was needed.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2770.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2771.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2772.jpg

Removed the shifter, linkage, and stabilizer, no longer needed.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2773.jpg

After test fitting a second time there was more cutting to be done in that same area. Just needed to go in about another 1/2" or so and all was good.

Here is pics of it all bolted in. Again this is gonna change when i get the right bracket.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2774.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/ashtonroche/DSCN2775.jpg

Here you can see the clearance of the subframe and how much more i cut. The trans is gonna be up another inch or so when the right bracket is on. But there is plenty of room now.
