This has been going on for a while, not exactly sure what to make of it.
I recently just got a new battery in the little remote that the b14 guys have. Well since then it seems that my power locks wont work, windows work fine. It also seems that my alarm goes off shortly after i lock it with the remote. I have been locking it by hand but it goes off shortly (within 5 minutes of locking it) I'm not sure what to make of this i figured maybe the remote is shot... but the power locks in the car dont work. Also while im driving, if you ever have used your remote lock to unlock your doors while your in the car(i know im not that lazy but say you hit it by accident) or if you tried to unlock the doors while they were already unlocked you hear a little clicking sound, well while im driving it often makes this sound and unlocks the doors if i have locked them.
Could this be a blown fuse? if not what should i look for, any ideas
TIA,
Matt "about to get electricuted by his b14" chamberland

Do a search, I think there's some things you can do to reprogram the remote or the alarm.

with the door closedlock and unlock the door using the power door lock
then insert and remove the key 7 times on the 7th turn the key to the on position also your flashers should blink twice
then you take the remote and hit the lock button. unlock the door manually
and your done.
this is off the top of my head i havent programmed a remote in a while
if you have a second remote you need to do it at the same time
so you would open the door and close it then hit the lock button on that remote also. then remove key and check remotes.
if im wrong and someone knows what step i listed wrong please correct me.

thanks for the tip, a new problem recently just happened, thats my power lock switches dont do anything, you can press them and nothing happens.
so there goes the reprogramming huh? i tried ot just do it manually and it doesnt work, i dont know what to do. i know once i was in a pouring rain storm and i forgot i had my windows open (i was inside the house) and the panels got totally soaked but everything worked after that, its just recently my car has turned into a walking short...
any help? thoughts? are their fuses that can blow to make the power locks not work (power windows work) , this goes along with the alarm problem.
the alarm problem-doors unlock sporadically, anytime the car is off and the doors are lock whether i do it manually or by the remote the alarm will go off and unlock the doors, but if you open the doors the alarm goes off. when i drive you hear a clicking every once in a while when it tries to unlock the doors.
comments.... should i just take it down to a dealer? i dont have money to spend on this shit problem it just pisses me off cause i go to school at a college with a car theft as a common problem and LORD KNOWS EVERYONE WANTS AN SE-R.
TIA,
Matt

I would check every fuse and relay in the car. If they are all fine, I would go and buy a good aftermarket alarm.:D You probably need to pull of your door panel and check the wiring and switch boxes too though.

it could either be your power door actuator or your switch. i doubt its a fuse.
do you hear the power doors trying to unlock and lock? the actuator should make a noise.
if you need a schematic and diagram i have one from a 99 should be the same

no noise from the doors when i hit the switch. when the car tries to unlock it by magic it makes a clicking noise behind the dash, other than that they dont move unless the doors are locked and it unlocks them.

I'd pull the alarm fuse until you can get it figured out. That way you can manually lock and unlock your car without the alarm interference. Then you can troubleshoot when you've got time. Sounds to me like the factory setups on the B14's are crap, heard of people having problems like this a lot it seems.

1st. Check for good power, good grd at the driv. switch harness.
2nd. From what your saying-more than likely the switch(Driv. lock/window) is suspect. IMHO.
Both power door lock switches receive their grd signal from the driv. side-if I remember right

I think Chris is right. Most OEM setups I've messed with run everything through the master swtiches in the driver's door, be it power windows or locks. That's the place to start trouble shooting things. The crappy part is that it sounds like the power locks at least are operated via the alarm and even if there are power lock switches in the car, they likely only operate on board relays in the alarm. However, beings there are problems with the power windows as well, I wouldn't think the alarm would have any involvement with those.
