I have a '95 model that has been lowered a little with different springs. I've had another 200SX SE-R and the ride on this one is considerably stiffer.
My son will be getting this car in a month, and really wants 17" wheels. Won't this size wheel with 205/40 tires make it even stiffer? I don't want this thing to feel like a hard tail Harley Davidson.
What do any of you think?

The smaller side wall is reinforced to make it strong thus making flex in the side minimal/nonexistant which inturn = stiffer ride.. but it really wont be too terribly bad.. Hope this helps

Thanks for the input. He's afflicted a little bit with the "image is everything" anyhow.

Just a warning, how bad are the roads there? With the 17's, and low profile tires, you'll be bending rims(especially cheap ones) all time if there are potholes around you.
And ask your son this, do his want to look pretty and be a poser? or go fast. Plus the 17"s will make the car slower. I would NEVER go 17's on my car, MAYBE 16's (to clear huge brakes), and I would only get lightweight forged wheels. Even in 15's, you're looking at around $300 for a strong lightweight wheel. AND 17" tires cost more.
Even a crap set of 17's will costs $800. For that price, you could get a set of S3 cams and headers and gain at LEAST 15 whp, probably more like 20whp and knock over a second off of the stock 1/4 mile time.
OR, he can get 17's, make the car SLOWER, and possibly end up with dented rims if you live around rough roads. Everyone has different tastes, some people will like the rims, others won't. But there's no denying speed.

oh yeah, take him to an auto-x and teach him how to drive. it's an eye opening experience and will get him over the "i'm the best driver" teenage syndrome that even I had.

What parents don't know can't hurt them..... "Your car rides rougher now", "yeah, uh, had to get some new shocks". "whats that 'boost' gauge for?" "oh, nothing..."

LMAO! Hey I don't know about you guys, but I'm 17 and my parents don't want me to go fast. My mom would rather me buy a set of wheels over cams anyday. Her response to my bumper: "Wow that looks nice." Her response to my new intake: "Why do you need that? To go faster? You already got a ticket! WHY DO YOU NEED TO GO FASTER!?!?! DO YOU WANT ME TO GO BROKE ON INSURANCE BLAH BLAH"
