: Bulbs for Clear Lenses
Bud Man 09-26-2002, 12:53 AM Now that everyone has their beautiful clear lenses installed, what did you guys do for bulbs? I had kind of forgotten about it until today, when a coworker said that they've been ticketing people like crazy for improper lens/bulb combos in St Louis. I know everyone was saying that the PIAA bulbs were a cheap fix, and that they could melt and do damage. What's the cheapest safe alternative?

nxFreak 09-26-2002, 02:04 AM i like piaas but they are freakin expensive..i already have piaas for my headlights and want to change the h3's, the turn signals and the sidemarkers (mine are clear all around) but that would be mucho $$$...any one know of better deals?
Pretty White 09-26-2002, 04:34 AM I used amber 1156. Some cheap ones.
Gerbrand 09-26-2002, 05:19 AM I used the Osram clear bulbs.
Pretty expensive, I had to pay 27 euro for one pair.

Xtreme2000 09-26-2002, 08:30 AM That's a real lot. Here in Germany the Osrams are 20 Euro in a local store. I just ordered the Phillips Silver Vision for 17 Euro a pair.
Bud Man 09-26-2002, 01:25 PM Oops, i guess the PIAA's are the good ones. It's the Superwhites that you guys were saying were the shitty ones?
Anyway, I'm pretty ignorant about bulbs and sizes. So Pretty, you just went with an amber bulb, and 1156 is the size?
Is that the size I want if I get the Osrams or the Phillips?
Fonque 09-26-2002, 03:11 PM im goin led with mine, im ordering some 1157 amber led's from ledtronics, $50 per bulb,
pricy but in some kinda way ive rationalized that its worth it after getting burnt by procarparts.
Patch1 09-26-2002, 04:48 PM I went to my local nissan dealer as a last resort and got amber replacements fo my clear bulbs and it cost less that six bucks..I really didn't see the point in buying piaas since all they are for is the turn signals......peace

I kind of felt the same way.
BTW, where are the pics people???
Bud Man 09-28-2002, 01:03 PM I think I like the $6 option. So what is the difference between an 1156 and an 1157 bulb? They both will fit?
I just talked to my Nissan dealer, and he said he'd order the bulbs for the NX2K, but he didn't see a color option. I'm guessing they'll be clear, but I didn't have to pay for them up front.
Help,
Colin

fonque bro, if you wanna keep prices low, you can get those led bulbs on ebay ALOT cheaper, thats the way im goin soon...and for anybody else who like to keep prices moderate, just get those titanium ones from your local pepboys for 6.00, they're APC but who gives a fuck, they look mirror until in use then are amber, and you cant beat the 5.99 price.....plus if they crap out on yah just bring em back for exchange. ;)
Fonque 09-28-2002, 03:04 PM careful with the led's *** if you get cheap one you'll have to then buy a $25 or so current limiting resistor. something like that. thats why i want the bulbs from ledtronics. it comes built in and i can always return the bulb if it doesnt work

Fonque 09-29-2002, 01:25 AM something interesting i just came across, i just checked my fsm to find out what headlight 92 nx's use which i now know is 9004 so i bought some sylvania silverstars. but the fsm says that the nx uses 1156 turn signal bulbs not 1157 o.O
its in the fsm so i guess it doesnt lie. every site i check online has the nx turn signal listed as 1157
nxFreak 09-29-2002, 01:57 AM the 93 nx uses 1157 for sure....you can check your bulbs by seeing if the bottom has 1 or 2 little circles...the 1157 have 2 circles if im not mistaken? is this right?
NX1600lasgen 09-29-2002, 06:17 PM ok guys!! to clear things up, both the 1156 and 1157 can be used and ARE on the nx..... the difference between the two is one has only 1 fillament and the other has 2.
for example:
i think 1157 is the bulb with 2 and it would be used for the stop lights in back, ever noticed that at night when your turn on your lights the rear comes on aswell? and then when you step on the brake it gets brighter....thats the same bulb working!! it has one fillament for low wattage and then a second when you press the brake pedal to make a noticible difference when driving.
the 1156 only has 1 fillament and is common in the back signals aswell as our fronts... i hope this clears up a bit of confussion
--now im not possitive but i think you can still use the 1157 for where an 1156 would be but not the other way around
confused again yet  :)
