alright guys they offer a decent amount of short shifters for the 200sx, and i was just wondering about which one to get, whether it be the B&M one or the pacesetter or SWC? any help would be great thanks

None, they are all chunks of shit. Their notchy and vague. Stick with stock. If you want to miss gears or misshift, buy one.

But if you insist, get the pacesetter, it's adjustable. You can shorten and lengthen the throw. (not while it's installed, though.)

I cut mine about a month ago, and I regret not having done it earlier. I had the car for almost 2 years with that thing... what was I thinking???

Its easy to cut it and throw a knob on there too... save your money and cut it.

IMHO, Pacesetter is the best bang for the buc.

DaGenesis, I hope you don't plan on putting a really nice knob on. I.E. Nismo. I cut my shifter waaay back and decided to order a nismo knob one day. Well you have to thread them on. So I had to order a short shifter. Pain in the arsh.

Dude you must have rode in a car the had theres installed upside down. :D

My Pace Setter is smooth as silk, throws are straight forward, no hunting gears. Total improvement over stock! I haven't missed a gear since..:D

i just recently cut mine the other day. and with a 24 doller shift knob from nokya it was alot cheaper than buying a short shifter.

your'e right, it is pretty thick. However, right now I have this shift knob on it (red), and fits great without having to use a die or anything.

Yeah I used to have a nice MooMoo ;) shift knob that used set screws. Then one day I found myself browsing Ebay.com there sat a Nismo shift knob. It was love at first bid. lol. I'm glad that I got it though it's a really nice piece.

I bought one from procarparts.com, I don't even know which brand. I had my machine shop bud cut it down and weld the threads back on top. It's great, he had it welded really, really good, and it only cost $39.95 without the knob. If you'd like, I can have him do the same to yours for about $15 if you can get it sent here and back. It's visually appealing, being that it doesn't look like a dildo anymore, it's more of a nub. Plus, it's a real short shifter too, so it's longer on the bottom in that case and it's shorter up top! If you live close to Michigan and are going to the midwest chicago meet the 12th, I can have you look at mine there. If not, I can take pics too. -BEN

I helped my bud John put a B&M on his car last night. What a pain. A complaint has been filed with Nissan for putting the shifter linkage above the cat. :)

Anyway, all said and done, it's really pretty nice. I mean, it doesn't feel like my Eclipse, but they're two really different cars. MUCH shorter than stock and pretty tight.

I recommend the B&M part as long as you're willing you get under your car for what's going to be a painful couple of hours. :)

Where are you from in Michigan? I am in Big Rapids, cause I go to Ferris. I have been looking for other Nissan owners. I know sean carr and that is about it.

I bought a Topspeed short shifter from my local performance shop, it was only $40 and it has a very solid, notchy feel. Just make sure when you put in the new shifter or shorten your oem one to change the shifter bushing, it makes one hell of a diff. in the feel!!

Ok this has been addressed many times on the list, as well as here. Cutting the OEM shifter doesn't shorten the throw at all. Yeah it gives you the short throw shifter feel but it's not the same thing. Seriously if you want a short shifter spend $65 and get a Pacesetter. I kick myself in the a$$ for waiting as long as I did to get it. Add another $8 to that and you can have a really nice shift kit.

Yeah, if you have a few bucks around...it really is worth it. My short shifter is great...rattles a little, but I am sure it just needs a bushing. However, the throws are short and precise. Cutting it does nothing but give it the effect of looking short. Your throws are the same.

:D Does anyone have a Arospeed SS on their car? Any complaints?

Get the Pacesetter. Comparing the cut OEM to the Pacesetter, there's no comparison. Shifting actions are smoother (not notchy) and quicker due to the shorter gates. I used to miss 3rd every now and again at the track, but since the PS, haven't missed it once in almost 3 yrs. Cutting the OEM will save some $$$ now, but if you do upgrade afterwards, you'll feel a major difference.

Also, I have a friend w/ a 200 who cut his shifter way short tryin to be cool. Near impossible to get his car in 5th without lots of arm strength.

I bought a cheap ss off of ebay for like $15 well worth the money and i have felt a pacestter and too me I would rather just have the $15 ss instead of the pacesetter.. lets get real once you go through the pain in the ass of putting the shiftr in your not going to want to take it all apart to adjust it again.. go the ebay route. I cut my ss too so it wasnt at stock height anymore.. nice feel .. just my .02
