: 400-500whp on gti-r motor and awd setup
TOOQIKK 05-31-2010, 01:50 PM what do i need to run those kinda numbers?
i have a jwt ecu, spec lightened flywheel, spec clutch, lookin at gettin 720 injectors s3m cams, have a tubular manifold(if coach will ever take it off the motor!!...lol) what turbo should i use...im looking for a cruiser with occasional track use(rarely) mostly a wild DD with spirited driving on the days off.
what FMIC should i use, im a noob when it comes to boost.
I have an 87 4wd wagon(sentra not the stanza) want a killer sleeper.
please dont flame or tell me to search i have been but get all sorts of mixed info.
so any advise would be appreciated...gonna start rebuilding the motor here soon so want to get a good solid game plan. thanks for any help!
skcusloa 05-31-2010, 02:25 PM I would start with what your manifold is flanged for, then I would start searching for used turbos for sale (I'm cheap :) ), I would look up the specs on the used turbos, then I would start low balling :)
unijabnx2000 05-31-2010, 02:28 PM gt30 or gt35 - compare compressor maps to see which one would suit you and your driving style better.

where would i find this info?

TOOQIKK 06-02-2010, 01:46 AM gt25871R (http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT28/GT2871R_743347_3.htm) this one seems to fit the bill...what do you think?
unijabnx2000 06-02-2010, 01:48 AM it will be harder to get 400whp with a GT28 since your awd. but it should get you close and id get the 56 trim .86 ar turbine. IMO

Salvisol82 06-06-2010, 10:47 AM Are you dead set on a GTi-R engine? Guys with B12's have had an easier time installing the CA18DET. Some B12's around the world were offered with the CA engine. So there are factory mount and wiring options out there if you were to go CA18DET.
From what I've read a Sr20 into a B12 is a much more custom type of deal. However I'm not sure how a CA18 would do at 400 to 500 awhp.
skcusloa 06-06-2010, 11:10 AM He's already got the motor, I think he's dead set :)
RalliartRsX 06-06-2010, 11:48 AM gt25871R (http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT28/GT2871R_743347_3.htm) this one seems to fit the bill...what do you think?
You will NOT be able to produce anything above 400 hp with a T2 sized turbo, atleast not on pump gas 93 octane being highest (and if you have a gt2871R it will be on the boarder line making 400 f/r whp much less awhp). Also, if you do get into the 400 awhp with a T2 frame turbo, its outside of its efficiency range. There is a gentleman over at the other forum which produced 420+ hp on a T28 (But I also think he had a Ve head)
Start with a T3 framed turbo and work your way up from there. Also, take the holsets into consideration as well.
P.S. You also need to look HEAVILY into fortifying that gearbox.
TOOQIKK 06-08-2010, 02:32 AM thanks for the info and i have a couple gear boxes and looking at gettin some more....
will be having it welded up some and possible some par gears later down the road...i dont plan on abusing it but when the itch comes want to be able too! mostly a cruiser with some extra grunt.
sss-gti-r 07-01-2010, 09:12 AM my setup that i am putting together right now on my awd b13 is the gti-r motor and gearbox with rc720cc injectors s3m cams a gt3076r garrett aem 30-1600 ecu and water meth kit a spec stage 3 kit with lighten flywheel looking to put down 450 plus awhp
MuFfIn MaN 07-01-2010, 04:37 PM i have forged pistons, eagle rods, racing bearings, 550 injectors, tial 38mm wast gate, gt30 with a log manifold and a z32 and a few minor things and i made 340hp. with a bad exhaust leak coming from the manifold, using a log manifold and minor tuning.... you can do easily over 400hp with a stand alone and a tubular manifold
TOOQIKK 07-07-2010, 10:12 PM okay set up has changed..have the gti-r block rebuilt with bc stage II cams, tublar manifold(ss...) t3/t4 turbo, 96lb injectors, jgy fuel rail, two msd fuel pumps(gonna run them parallel), gspec underdrive water pump pully and lightened gspec crank pulley...along with spec lightened fly wheel and spec stage II clutch.......and a n60 blow through MAF.
pmdgtir 07-08-2010, 01:21 AM what do you guys think is the limit on a stock gti-r motor?
moonraker 07-10-2010, 01:52 AM what do you guys think is the limit on a stock gti-r motor?
Anything over standard until it goes bang.
realistically, 400hp at A4W
Salvisol82 07-10-2010, 10:04 AM You know what other b12 gets huge props Chuck Johnsons red Sr20det Coupe. I really want to find a cleannnnnn B12 hatch someday and drop a CA18DET in it. I never see the B12 hatches around though.
TOOQIKK 07-10-2010, 01:35 PM Hopin one day to take it to the flats and beat his record for the b12 :-)
coach 07-10-2010, 11:42 PM Do it!

thats honestly more than enough.
i'm looking into a new set up, different manifold and turbo.
i have this shitty tubular manifold and a 50 trim.
hate it.
