: Need wiring harness

I'm sure that most of you saw my fire pictures from my engine explosion....

http://www.sr20forum.com/road-racing/265814-hyperfest-2010-videos.html

I started going through the car yesterday and it looks like I need a portion of the wiring harness. The part that goes from the ECU through the firewall and to the injectors is looking crispy and has exposed wires.

If anyone has this part of harness for a 92 SER for a reasonable price, let me know.

Most everything else appears to be..... servicable.... but it will take some work. I still have to do an engine swap and some body work to get back on track.

Thanks,

-Scott

call Jason Rudd over at Al Rudds auto parts/salvage in suffolk. tell him what happened and you race with me. though it's an old car, he may be able to find something for you. doesn't hurt to hit craigslist, ebay, and the forums looking for a parts car also. mine has definitely came in handy for that oddball stuff.

i hope you get your car ready for july. i get back the tuesday beforehand. would access to a lift help you with your engine swap?

David, thanks. I'll call if Steve doesn't have one. I'm good to go with my cherry picker.

I found one on the forums. The whole thing for $120 shipped. That works :-)

good deal

...and good to know that price works because when I tried to sell an OBD2 harness for $100 plus ship cost, I got the Nth degree about being overpriced (it took us 2 hours to remove it from the car in the yard) but we ended up using it for ourselves anyway so no biggie there but now I'll know for future visits if it is worth removing more harnesses the next time we visit Phoenix (land of rust free easier to remove parts!)

Run it low on oil and a rod let go?

The OBD1 is discontinued through Nissan and alot more expensive if it wasn't!

No, oil levels were fine, oil pressure was normal, oil temps were normal. Engine was running fine until the rod went through the block.

Yeah, that'll ruin driveability, that's for sure... :D

I was shooting video when the engine let loose and my gauges are on the dash in the middle of the car. You can see that my oil pressure is stable in the video. I also have a 25PSI Automter idiot light on the dash and that never came on either.

Huh. This a stock motor?

Stock motor with typical mods. 155 WHP. The problem is that it had sat in a shed since 2002. None of the sealant on the motor was factory. The head gasket wasn't factory. Someone had been in that motor and there's no telling what they had done.

Word. Another used motor, or building one this time around?

Rod bolt failure wasn't uncommon in SS motors.

Rock, I got a primo JDM motor when I bought my first motor for this car. That motor died when the oil pump siezed.

I'm going to put new bearings and a new oil pump case in that one, check the clearances and go with that bottom end. There's no point in "building" a motor in PT. Anything I do to increase HP is just going to make me illegal with the new HP/wt rules. I just want to get something running that has reliable 155-160 HP and then adjust my weight accordingly.

David, The bottom end is together and the cylinder head and timing chain went on today. All of the bearing clearances were acceptable. The mains were looser than I woud like but the rods looked good. Hopefully I can get all the accesories attached on Thursday (when the wiring harness is expected to get here). I rebuilt the gage package harness. I'm out of town this weekend so I won't be able to work on it.

It's going to be tight for July.

when is it not tight? lol. i'd offer help but of course, i'm on the other side of the country. my schedule is to get back tuesday july 20th. wednesday go to work to handle some stuff. thursday, off work to get jeep inspected, change fluids in the racecar, pack everything for the weekend. friday, leave for VIR midday. i know i'm gonna forget to bring something, heh.

hopefully the weekend will be a blast just like march was. i'm seriously having withdrawls it's been so long since i've been on track. i know you just need to get a full weekend in, it must be aggravating.
