My car runs great but I have a question.

When I'm driving along and come to a stop, for a light etc. the revs drop to about 1200 for about 2-3 seconds (with no throttle) before dropping to idle speed of 900. Is this supposed to be the case?

Both my 240sx and my SE-R do this. I think it is similar to the carbureted days of having a dashpot slow the RPM fall to prevent excessive unburnt fuel from being dumped into the Cat (though with EFI they can turn off the injectors so why is it still done?)
