: My first SR20DE
CarbonBlack200 09-30-2002, 07:34 PM I finally got the engine. It is 98SR20VE's old engine. (very good shape) I have been wanting the SR20 engine ever since I bought my car 5 years ago. I guess I finally joined the SR20 family. I will be swapping this engine into my 200SX as soon as I get all the parts togeher. I still need to buy a tranny, etc etc so it will be a long term project. But I finally took a big first step. I'm just happy. :D
CAMPPAIN 09-30-2002, 07:41 PM welcome to the force young jedi yosuke ;)
hey i have an auto tranny someones interested in but if they back out your more than welcome to it! :p
will you be doing the swap? it shouldnt be that hard as far as old engine out new engine in only thing that might present to be a pita is the wiring which i have no idea what you would need to do for a ga-sr swap
but good luck
NissanTuner 09-30-2002, 07:50 PM welcome to the crowd, and get ready to dump countless hours and untold fortunes into your car squeezing out every horsepower you can :D
FastNX 09-30-2002, 07:52 PM welcome to the club, you won't be disappointed!
As far as i know to swap you will need engine, tranny, axles, ECU, SR20 wiring harness, passenger side motor mount, rad hoses, and maybe a rad.
What are your eventual goals? are you just going to keep it stock, or play with it a bit before dropping it in?
MauiBlueGride 09-30-2002, 08:48 PM Warning # 267..... When the SR20 engine harness comes into the car by the ecu there are three plugs for the GA16 and only 2 for the sr20 (or something like that....) Anyways only one plugs in and you've got two that don't....
Service manual time :-)

blairellis 09-30-2002, 09:24 PM YOS DOOD! congrats bro! get on AIM now so i can talk to you ;)
btw welcome to the sr20 family :)
CarbonBlack200 10-01-2002, 12:48 AM Thanks all. FastNX, I wanted to open the engine and put high comp pistons etc, but since this motor is still in great condition and don't require opening up the engine, I will just leave it alone for now. I will still lightly mod them though (up to Cams). I'm sure it will make me very happy.
CAMPPAIN, I'm a lazy bastard, but i don't think I am going for Auto. :P I'm worried about wireing stuff too. But I'm getting a SR20 ECU and harnesses, so it will be the complete swap. I hope it works out.
Chrissy 10-01-2002, 06:59 AM Congrats Yosuke! Again your car will be nicer than mine.:p
Benito Malito 10-01-2002, 10:58 AM Very Nice. I bought the whole after manifold exhaust off that engine. Steve hooked me up so I could sell my 200. That engine only has like 50k or so, it's a baby. Right?
Well if you are going to do pulleys, or clutch, do it now, and do it right.
Also; you wanna spring for an LSD tranny or maybe a phantom grip. That is really part of the joy of owning an SR powered car.
metro_se-r 10-01-2002, 02:30 PM there are star wars nerds all over these boards:p ...
congrats carbon, now just make sure what aftermarket parts you eventually going to get so that u don't have to buy shit twice. for example, don't get the 200sx ecu, get the G20 ecu. that in itself should be your first mod. :) enjoy the sr20 power

Yeah, engine looks new and inside the water line, valve cover look like brand new. I was amazed how clean the engine was. It actually has 77K miles on it, but my friend even said, it looks nothing like it has that much miles on it. I just hope it runs like how it looks. lol I'm not worried about it though.
LSD is a MUST. Stock V-LSD is fine, so I am looking for a good condition B14 95-97 transmission (for less). You are right about this.. I need to get everything right. I want to get new set of clutch (JWT or ACT with B15 disc) and a JUN flywheel. New set of pulleys would be nice, but not sure if I can afford them right now. I'm definetely getting new belts though.
metro_se-r, you are right. I need to get right parts while the engine is out. ECU actually came with the Engine, so I will use that for a while. My engine is 98. So it is going to be a little trickey for me to upgrade the ECU, so I will plug stock ECU for now and do some more research about it ;)
Thanks all others for compliment!!
WickedSR20 10-02-2002, 09:39 PM Style and power. It's what's for dinner!
Congrats & Welcome to the warped SR20 world. :D
