G'day all,

Here's a question from down-under. I have an Aussie '92 Pulsar N14 SSS, I think they are similar to your B13/14 (not sure). Anyway, it has an SR20DE motor and 5spd box, no LSD. I have had this problem since I bought the car, with 160,000km on the odo.
What happens is when I go over a dip in the road or over a hump, something that causes rearward and upward pressure on the front wheels, the car makes this fairly noticable rubbing/vibration sound for the duration of the pressure. Additionally, it makes this same sound for the entire duration of the reverse up my drive-way (100 metres at 5 degrees).
I have had suspension specialists look at it and mechanics, to no avail. I have installed new front shocks and checked EVERYWHERE under the front and there is no sign of rubbing - nothing!!.
I have come to the conclusion that it must be in the tranny, probably the diff. The effect is reduced significantly when the car warms up, after about 15 minutes on the road.

Has anybody had a similar experience, and how did they fix it ?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Just a guess- Have you looked at the condition of your motor mounts?

ps- welcome to the board.

Oh yeah, and I've checked the engine mounts - All solid as.

Other things tried:
Change oil in diff.
Tighten up all front suspension components.
Remove front bar (to see if it was that vibrating).
Checked tyre pressures.
Checked brakes.
Checked exhaust mounts and flanges.

Thanks for the suggestion though :)
