I'm slowly putting everything back together on my ve.

First issue:
I noticed my original pressure plate has a groove on the "tongues", wondering if that is re-usable or should I get a new pp and throwout bearing? here's the pictures:

Second issue:
The hose from the power steering pump reservoir to the pump is too short. I found a coolant hose from the VE that is shaped almost identical to the original DE hose. Can I use the coolant hose from the VE or will it fall apart after some time?

For the hose, I would. Even if it would fall apart.

Pressure Plate - The answer depends on whether you value your time or your money more. Whenever I have the tranny out, I think about replacing the clutch just to avoid taking the tranny out again when the clutch fails. That said, the grooves in your pp springs are not abnormal, as far as I can tell from the pictures. On the other hand, here is link to a clutch I've used on DEs and VEs with good results for $170.00 plus shipping. http://www.capclutch.com/nissen4cyl20.html. This clutch is rated at 220 foot pounds.

He has put a VE in it. Which one?

Thanks guys. I decided to get a foot of Gates ps hose for about 3 bucks. I think I'll get the PP as a kit that includes a fidanza flywheel from ebay. I think 221 ft lbs for the clutch is plenty enough for my VE in the current setup.

BTW, I found an s-shaped hose if anyone cares, Gates 19606 or NAPA 11606 to connect the lower nipple of the heat exchanger to the water line by the water pump. Cut to length, it looks almost factory made. The longer hose near the throttle body is 80416 at autozone. Both are 3/4".
