How safe is it to run with no downpipe for a couple of runs at the dragstrip? I disconnected it today and ran it around the block. It was loud as hell and seemed to breath better. However, there was a lot of heat under there!!!

Should I not do this? Anyone get noticable amount of power from doing this? I currently have a 2.5in D/P with no cat and 3in exhaust.

Thanks

I did for a while, not at the track though, only to get my DP, it does breath better but I think it might affect the O2 sensor, but don't trust me cause I ain't no mechanic

Over here in So. CA they don't let us run on the drag strip without an exhaust connected. Do they let you run open where you live?

I ran open at Carlsbad. Those rednecks didn't care. I even ran open downpipe at Sac Raceway where they are more strict. Just leave your muffler on, and ease up to the line. They will think u are a noisy honda.

On my 98 SE with a T25, 2.25" downpipe, stock cat, and 2.5" Courtesy catback I did a best of 14.4@98mph. Disconnecting the downpipe from the turbo j-pipe netted me a 13.9@102mph at Great Lakes Dragway. :D

oops. Well I stand corrected. I do remember multiple times at pomona and california speedway having to wait while the guys at the water pit caught a few guys running open and made them leave the strip.
