: Progressive Rear Sway Bar Install
Da91NX 10-01-2002, 12:03 PM ON wenesday i will insatall my Progressive rear sway bar. If anyone has done these, i would enjoy any tips you have. This looks as though it should be moderatle difficult install, mostly because of the end links. All of that measureing they want you to do makes it kind of confusing.
Andy92RubyClassic 10-01-2002, 04:55 PM coincidentally mine will arrive on wed too... you and another local guy are the only ones i know of who have these..
Da91NX 10-01-2002, 09:38 PM Shoes59 has one. He sold me his old ST front sway bar. His car handles awsome. I picked it up this morning and i didnt have everything i needed so i put it off for today bcuz i had to be i work at 1 and didnt want to get stranded. Wed at like 2 i am going to try it. There seems to be a little bit of measuring i am not to sure about.
Andy92RubyClassic 10-02-2002, 03:02 PM Let me know how it goes.. i'm planning to do mine on sat and i'd appreciate your input..
luminus 10-02-2002, 03:05 PM I'd like to see some pictures if can...
Da91NX 10-02-2002, 04:03 PM Unfortunatly i dont have a digi cam, so no pics there. I am about to go and try to install it now. I am just a little worried about some of the directions. They seem a little fuzz about having to measure certain things. I will find out now. I may come back with some good insight.
Andy92RubyClassic 10-03-2002, 08:43 AM So how did it go man?
Looking through the endlinks and hardware i got, it said i'm supposed to have 4 of this metric bolt but i only have 2. i have 4 of this 1' bolt that the nylon nuts thread on when i should have gotten 2.. i'm not sure how much this matters.. i also noticed the parts box says b14w on it.. the shipping box is for the b13.. huh..
in the directions it says to mark where the car sits with the suspension compressed so you can fit it right with the car in the air.. wouldn't putting the jack stands under suspension arms accomplish the same thing without the measuring/marking..?
Da91NX 10-03-2002, 10:02 PM getting the radius arm bolts off and torqued back on are the only hard parts. I am still stuck at this point because of little time and bad weather. Keeps on raining. Started to round one of the nuts. Probably have to replace it. Saturday night if i haven't gotten the bolts off yet, my one friend has a garage with an air gun. Sould make getting them off easier. Putting them back on will make you crazy. No way to tighten them back.
scmser 10-05-2002, 09:51 AM Is the progressive bar the same design as the old Nu-Tech rear bar?
Da91NX 10-05-2002, 09:37 PM Yep, just changed their name. They will have an adjustable front one out soon, too.
Andy92RubyClassic 10-07-2002, 04:46 PM Just want to say the reason why DA91NX and myself had so much trouble is because we got the wrong brackets for the radius arms..
the correct ones have been sent out to myself today after i called them twice and gave them a piece of my mind..
i pmed DA91NX on this in case he doesn't see this post..
hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone in the future who buys this bar... i'd be careful..
tpeele 10-07-2002, 11:32 PM What is the difference in the correct brackets? I installed one of the first bars with the old brackets. I had to wedge a file into the bracket to hold the bolt while I tightened with a impact wrench.
TIA
Tim
Da91NX 10-08-2002, 09:31 AM the ones you have i am guessing are the wrong ones. hats how mine was until i went out and bought bolts with a 18mm head. The correct ones should let you use a 22mm socket i guess.

i'll let you know when they arrive..
that's a pretty ghetto way to tighten them.. i tried it with a screw driver in there and the whole damn bracket spun.. i thought about hooking up the linkage to hold it but i didn't want to put stress on it.. i bet the impact made it easier to tighten by 1 side.. i need to grab both sides since i don't have an impact.. it's an obvious design mistake and i'm surprised i'm the first person to point this out...
Da91NX 10-08-2002, 04:41 PM I just finished installing it and it does feel much better. I haven't been able to really test it yet, though. Maybe saturday i will install the front one.
ride154 10-09-2002, 06:53 AM Does anybody know which oh the available
sway bars (ST, PGRS, GR.CT) give the best
ground clearance, for an NX?
I have the problem with my car, when I go
over speedbump that are very steep, my
standard sway bar hits the bump!
I want to upgrade my sway bars, but when
possible, I wanna get rid of that scraping!!!
One day I'll destroy it fo ***!!!
Da91NX 10-09-2002, 09:12 AM I cant compare all but the progressive on gave more clearence than the stock one. I can finally fit a jack in the back now withought going around the sway bar. Now if only o can get a jack on the sides of my car.
