does anyone know if the '00 and '01 SR20DE's are any harder to turbo than the previous versions? I read somewhere that the engine got new roller rockers, reprofiled cams, ecu, and valve swirl control, not to mention piston rings and a touched up crank. I have an se-r spec v and the potential of the new qr25de seems to be limited, unless you want to spend 5 g's BEFORE turbo or even super. with that in mind, i plan on "downgrading" (not anytime soon) to a DE that would EASILY swap into my B15 '02 chassis. I am just worried that some of the internals might have been altered a bit too much for the B15's SR20DE '00 and '01 engines. any feedback is appreciated. I'm new, so hello to all those that I do not know!

You'll be fine with turbocharging the B15 SR engine.
You just won't be able to use a plug and play JWT ECU, but there are other methods. I would recommend a Greddy Emanage to control the fuel and timing.
Although, nobody has ever swapped a SR20 into a Spec V, so you'd be the first. This is uncharted territory.
Why don't you just run low boost on your 2.5 motor?
Talk to Travis (Trav4011) on b15sentra.net, he's currently boosting a QR25DE as we speak.

Read page 2 of this thread. You will be amazed. And no Ben is not some crazy guy doing half A$$ crap. I know it goes against what you have learned in the past BUT our cars have a MAF and a learning ECU which to some degree helps them self tune to the new modifications.

amazing...an NA ECU running a DET with no problems on TWO different cars. thanks for the info on the b15's sr20de. i know it seems a bit premature to rule qr25de out, but i don't trust the open deck design. i know the b18 hondas do it, but most of the time they are reinforcing their sleeves and doing all sorts of internals before they turbo an engine they can RELY on. i could put low boost on the qr, but it bothers me. most guys i hear from are going NA on their qr, which tells me they don't trust the engine enough, unless you can afford the peace of mind. i am going to do more research (when i can) on how easily this swap could be done. with the similarities in the chassis, and the only thing different (neglecting the se-r spec v "extras") being the motor, i don't see how it could not be done.

my spec is an '02 with about 7k miles. i love the qr25de, it has great power, but as far as upgrades are concerned i am a bit worried. nitrous is cool, but it doesn't last forever.
