Hi I’m Nate, this is my first time here. I have been looking for an NX2000 for while now (im in CT). I found one at a dealership, I checked it out and they want $4000 for it. Its red and has 75,000miles. The interior is nice and it runs fine. The problem is that the paint on the car has a shit load of chips, and some friends told me it would cost 2-3k to get it repainted. Also the drivers side paint is faded, has anyone had any problems with their paint? And do you guy/girls think that is a fair price?

Thanks a lot,
Nate

Hey, welcome......I have a 93 NX2K and have owned a 91, my 93 is electric blue and the 91 was the metallic red and sad to say, but the paint on both of them sucks, but you have to remember that the car that you are looking at is nearing ten years old, hell my 93 only has 40,000 on it but the paint is FUBAR.....As far as paint and bodywork are concerned, yes you could pay 2 to 3 grand for a good paint job so shop around for a good price......As far as the 4 grand goes for the one you are looking at the dealer goes, talk them down, bring the quality of the paint to their attention, if they're not willing to deal then #@&* em....go elsewhere....

Thanks for the info, the guy said he couldn't go under 4grand but im still going to try, the guy at the local auto body place said it sounds like the car needs to be sanded down to bare metal and then repainted. I will probably just keep looking. Is there anything special I should check for in the NX2000?

Thanks again,
Nate

hey there...

well kelley blue book post the cars worth to be $3675 and thats with abs plus fully loaded...i'd say try to offer em something like $3k to $3.3k...anything more would be too much...u didn't mention which year so i searched a 1993 model...

for an nx u just have to make sure there isn't any fifth gear popout problem which will be costly to fix (if it does just skip the car unless they gave to u for $2k below)...the rest is just normal second hand car check...like the engine is in good condition...no bad wear anywhere around the body...make sure the targa top is in good condition...and if it has abs that it works and so on...even if its from a dealer im sure they are selling it as is...so they won't bother sprucing it up...

imho i think u can find a better deal somewhere else...try se-r.net classifieds...although its been down for awhile...or even ebay...i bought mine for $3250 with 60k miles from se-r.net and now i think i paid too much after hearing what some other ppl paid for theirs...

good luck...;)

Ah thanks alot, I love this forum, I have found a new home! It was an 93 with power brakes, windows. I think I will just let this one go. Any special way to test the 5th gear problem? is that the synchro?

Coach says to drive the car around 55-60mph with the car in 5th and let off the gas and then hit the gas. Do this a couple of times and if it slips out then you have 5th gear pop out.

its supposed to be red :P the driver side of the car was faded to a pinkish color, part of the car looked like it was painted.
