: WTB: Houston, TX, headliner panel, etc...
Shawn B 09-01-2010, 03:48 PM I have a '93 Sentra SE-R and need some interior parts.
If you are in Houston or the immediate surrounding area, within an hour from downtown.... I am looking for:
(1) headliner panel, non-sunroof. It needs to be in good physical/mechanical shape. It will be professionally re-covered, so the clothe-covering quality does not matter. I'd love the hardware that attaches it as well.
(1) Set of "oh sh*t" handles w/hardware if possible.
(1) Pair of interior door pull-handles, the black plastic pieces that form the handle to pull the door shut, in good physical/mechanical shape.
If you have them, I'd be very interested and bearing cash, green money. :D
Otherwise, I am going salvage-yard hopping in the next week or two. I'd prefer to just pick them up from a Forum Member and be done.

Nitelife 09-01-2010, 03:51 PM Shawn,
Finally finishing up the interior, eh?
While I cannot help you, per se...I have some advice on the oh sh*t handles. I tried painting mine to match my blacked out interior and they got really sticky, almost like the paint never finished drying (used interior panel paint too). I found some black handles from a 98-ish maxima that fit in our car and were the exact same style used in our cars.

Indeed. And about damn time.
The headliner panel is the bitch. It really has to be reasonably local.
I figured out why a headliner is so important in a daily. Insulation. Both from temperature and noise.

Yeah, I had my a-pillars sprayed black with some "special interior" stuff. It looked good at first, dried well. Did not last for sh*t, it scratches waaay too easily. They a-pillar trim is gonna get recovered in some black fabric or vinyl wrap at the upholstery shop. Black clothe on the headliner panel too. My "Batcave Interior" decor theme of black, on black, on black. With some red stitching.

Now that sir, is f*cking awesome information. That will be perfect. Another Nissan Factory interchangeable part, I love those. I'll add that to my "Forum Purchase or Salvage Yard" list. :biggthump
Slartibartfast 09-01-2010, 07:31 PM Shawn,
Let me see what I still have from gutting my '94. I'll report back tomorrow. I think I still have the roof panel. Door handles are staying on the car. I can't remember if I removed the O/S! handles. Also can't remember if I removed the A-pillar covers; I suspect they're still on the car. If I still have either/both of them, they're yours if'n you want 'em.

That sir would be terrific.
Let me know. I'd be happy to take the headliner panel off your hands at a mutually agreeable price. The fewer parts I am hunting for in salvage yards the better. :biggthump
I am going to look for the Maxima Oh-Sh*t handles as per Nitelife above. If I can find a pair in black I am set.
And I've got the A-pillar trim, just need to get mine re-covered. This time in clothe or vinyl of some sort.
Slartibartfast 09-02-2010, 06:59 PM I do indeed have the headliner panel but it has a slight crease right down the center at the rear window where something lay on it. I suspect a little elbow grease and water will remove most if not all evidence of the insult. The darn thing looks to be cardboard and other wood fiber. Fabric is already off. I'll see if I can get decent photos.
I'll bring it to the shop this weekend when I work on the race car. We can hook up there for the exhange.
Call me at @*! - &&# - (@&)
I'll be at the shop part of this Saturday and most of Sunday. After that I'm booked solid until the 13th.

No need for photos.
Race car shop? Sounds like a fun place to pick it up. :)
I'm off both Saturday and Sunday, we can meet at your convenience.
Gracias!

Slartibartfast 09-03-2010, 04:31 PM Don't expect much or you'll be disappointed when you see the shop.

Slartibartfast 09-28-2010, 02:32 PM You won't find Shawn here when you arrive but you might bump into me. Since I don't drive any streetable SE-R's, the bump probabilities are rather small unless I stumble upon an event of which you're attending.

Slartibartfast 09-30-2010, 01:35 AM I'm over fifty. I don't do street scenes. Twice a month with the Miata Club is about it That and LeMons racing. And pub crawls.

I'm nearly fifty. I don't do street scenes either. I avoid them at all costs.
Nice to meet you sir. Fun car talk. Appreciate the headliner panel. :biggthump
