I was wondering which engines and/or drive trains will fit into an S13 or S14 chassis. I have a chance to get an RB26DETT. I wanted to know how much modifying will have to be done to get the engine and AWD drivetrain into the car. If that is more work than it is worth, would a 300ZX TT engine and drivetrain fit into an S13 or S14 chassis? This is going to be a big project and I'm not scared to put in the time. I just need to know if I will be spending more money than it is worth to get the thing into the car.

The SR20DET and CA18DET are the big swaps as they're made for the chassis. I've read people having good success swaping in RB20DETT and RB25DETT without TOO much custom work. The RB26DETT is supposed to take a lot more custom work but there are a few people that have been able to do it. As for spending more money that it's worth... that's really a personal question. Probably the most economical option is going with an SR20DET... they're much easier to obtain parts for (both OEM and after market), there's a lot more information on that swap, and it's stock in Japan... so no custom work is needed.

use the RB25 tranny with the RB26 motor. a guy named Dauntless on 240SX.org is doing this swap, and SR20DEVELOPMENT is working on it (shush!) I think it takes a lot of modification to do this swap, but it can be done

From what I've read, it takes A LOT of mods to stuff in a RB26. Think cutting and welding torches.... the easiest would be the SR swap. check out www.freshalloy.com there are tons and tons of 240 guys on it.
