Dear NX owners,
We have never succeeded in getting the group deal going for NX carbon fiber hood in the past. And this one might fall through again. I will try my best this time. Of course, the most important thing to make this deal a reality is not me, but YOUR HELP.
Introduction :
Mike Kojima, Tony Guardado and Lennard Carson (original Fiber Image) are setting up a new Carbon fiber company. They are going to do the B13 first, then the B14 and NX hood. The NX hood is the big iffy. Mike said that he will only do it if we have enough interests, and DEPOSITS.
The hood will be all carbon including the underframe and will incorporate a functional Nismo 400R style scoop designed to extract as much hot air as possible. Target weight will be 12 lbs or less. Epoxy resin instead of the typical polyester will be used for maximum strength.
Check out www.nissanforums.com under the cosmetics forum and you can see pictures of the new carbon hood for the B13 that they will be making.
They will be selling these hoods for $500 which is slightly cheaper than the famed Fiber Image's hoods "even though the quality and engineering behind their hood is much better." (Mike's own words)
Timeline :
Mike will start doing the B13 hoods in December, followed by B14. Original plan is to do B15 after B14, but Mike K said that, if we have enough interests, he will do NX hoods after B14 hoods.
How many interests are enough? :
20 deposits.
How can we make this happen :
Mike specifically said that we cannot just have people saying "Count me in" -- Mike needs deposit of 100 dollars per person, 20 persons to get this deal moving. The deposit should be ready before he starts making the mold (around January). They will purchase a brand new hood from Nissan to assure highest quality, perfect dimension and smoothest surface. So there is nothing else for us to manage except paying the money.
Group deal organizer :
I volunteer to take care of it. I really want to have a carbon fiber hood on my NX too. One advantage is that I am here in Los Angeles, only half an hour away from Mike's. I can probably take care of our group deal conveniently. Some of the group deals I have organized included Motivational Rear plates for B14, and Koni bump stops in the SE-R mailing list a while back.

I understand that it is 2 months from now, but they won't start making hoods until December. I will update you guys when I have more information. Let's have a head count now so I can tell Mike that Egg owners are uniting.
