So as the bodywork and paint are well underway with my car, i find myself completely torn in one area, and am looking for some thoughts on what direction to take.

i purchased one of the BLEM carbon fiber hatches from NXSpaniard. i originally wanted to paint over it to keep it as low key as possible. but after having spent many days looking at how quality/nice it looks, i began to feel like leaving the carbon print to show.

Now this is where i am stuck.

i am planning to mount up the oem rear spoiler, as well as the EDM roof spoiler :biggthump that i purchased. the thing is, both spoilers will be painted to match the car's color and i am worried that it will not look right mounting them up against a carbon fiber background.

so what would any of you do in my situation? just paint the spoilers and mount them up, leaving the carbon to show? have any of you ever done this to your respective vehicles? or should i paint the hatch, too, so that everything matches?

i am beginning to feel like just painting everything. that will be more sleeper-ish, and better for averting thieves. but i really like the look of the carbon and do plan on getting a matching hood and, HOPEFULLY one day (*ahem* to NXSpaniard), some carbon fiber t-tops in the future.

but yup, any help, or other suggestions that i may not have thought of, would be greatly appreciated. so don't be afraid to let me know what you think!

oh and if you need to know any other info to help make a better decision, just ask.

thanks in advance guys!

You could send the spoilers to Overkill or someone else to have them wrapped in CF.
That would be what I would do to keep the CF stuff showing. Then when/if the ttops happen, you are good to go.
Otherwise,I say paint it all.I am not sure how good it would look if the spoliers were painted with the CF background.

I would just stick with the hatch and not have a spoiler.

OR this is what i would do... don't paint the hatch, and only mount the painted roof spoiler. i think that would look good. but for sure don't paint the hatch, you payed all that dough to have a sexy carbon hatch, why not show it off?

UPDATE:

so as of lately, i am almost certain i am gonna leave the carbon hatch alone and mount the 2 spoilers to the regular metal hatch. it's not too hard to switch them out that's why and i really would like to keep the carbon hatch in top shape for as long as possible. i figure i can switch them out in the event of a drag or track day, and then switch them back out when i get home. pretty sure that's what im gonna do. Now if someone were to make some carbon EDM spoilers, that might be a different story...

i haven't had any chances to get any work done on my car since my last update. been busy trying to test and apply for a new job. market sucks here in hawaii. will keep you guys updated as more things happen.

slowly but surely! :biggthump

I guess I'm the only one that thinks paint looks good? Why not sand the entire car and show off the steel underneath?
Sorry for the sarcasm- I just can't help myself. :-)

Obviously, if it were me, I'd paint the hatch. But it's not me, it's you, and whatever makes you happy....
