I was just wondering what DP's you guys prefer. I was told that the JGY DP has some fitting issues. While the JWT DP is twice the cost. Which one is the most common for a T28 setup. Im refering to the 2.5" DP fitting into a classic.

custom all the way! That is my suggestion. Just because you can probably get a 3" dp for the same price as a 2.5" made off the car from a name brand company! Check out the prices from exhaust shops around! Good luck and have a good one!

Yeah, have a muffler shop do it for you it might be a little on the shady side in terms of quality, but you'll get the same amount of horsepower(maybe minus 3 or 5 hp...) as you would with a JWT or HKS (not to take away any credibility from JGY, JWT or what have you...I'm sure they make fine dp's ...this is totally my own opinion and you dont have to listen to me, but I'm satisfied with the muffler shop dp that I have and its basically...the cheap route.

I used a jgy down pipe on my 95 and it works great.looks very nice and fit perfect. Very nice quality and for the price you can't bitch at all.I could have made my own pipe any day .I have a shop with 3 lifts and 2 welders but for the $175.00 I pay for the pipe I would rather save myself the time and screwing off that your going to waste trying to make one yourself. It is possible but for the money why mess with it??

My pennies worth x 2

Ditto, perfect fit and performance.

Jason is a good guy and very helpful, but my downpipe is pure ass. The quality is crap. The bends are worse than what I've gotten out of a ghetto muffler shop.

$175 is also a complete rip-off for what it is. I bought my entire 3" mandrel bent catback for $150 shipped. I'm just telling it how it is. If you would like me to post pics as proof, I can. I'm going to have to take this DP in and basically have everything but the flex-pipe removed and have new piping welded on. That's how bad it is.. :-\ Maybe I just got a crappy one?

I've owned a ghetto downpipe, a JGY, and a 2nd hand JGY...

JGY's fits - I had issues using it on TNED200's car, but it was the rest of the exaust, the muffler was pushing the cat back causing the pipe to bind and rub - once the rest of the exaust was hung right it was fine...

Don't blame it on the downpipe...

As for being pretty - its an exaust piece, no a friggin chrome valve cover...
If it was pretty I'd be bitchin. - *** it'd look nasty after 2 hours of driving in wet/potholled KY.

I'm not sure if you were referring to me in that post, so I'll pretend like you were. :)

I could care less about looks. It's the quality of the bends that counts. The pipe, even when it straightens out, still has large indentations where it looks like they tried to make a previous bend but messed up and straightened it back out. There are about 3 of these indentations. For $175 the thing should be mandrel bent.

the JGY that we used on NoClassic's car had HORRIBLE fitment. It pushed the exhaust way too far back and he had to get the b pipe modified just so it would fit. only cost $30, but still, a PITA

Ditto to PDR's statements. However, I guess for $175, it is relatively cheap compared to the rest of the downpipes out there. It still makes my entire exhaust system rattle though.

Please put more pictures of your downpipe on your website JGY. Particularly closeups of the ripples of pleasure on the downpipe. THe one you have on there is dark and blurry.

and pdr, I want to buy 3 cat back mandrel bend exhausts from you for $150 shipped for each, what type of welding is on it and what muffler?

hey, honestly sometimes they get messed up because I let certain people *ride* them, Chris knows

Well maybe it was just mine, but even w/ a crush-bent pipe I would expect something a little 'cleaner'. Mine really doesn't look like the one on your site.

The exhaust I got is un-welded 3" mandrel-bent catback piping from VRS (through sales@powertechimports.com). It includes all flanges, gaskets, and hangers. For a little more you can get it shipped to you welded together. You'd have to talk to Jamie at Powertech Imports about that one.

Please don't take any of this as character bashing or bashing of your business, because I do know you do a good job.

I want to know where I can find a 3" mandrel bent downpipe with a flex in it and flanges for 175.00.. If so.. I'll take 5 of them.. Yes.. they are crush bent... but you are talking about a 175.00 downpipe.. not a 300.00+ downpipe.. Jason does a kickass job.. end of story. I've seen exhaust from several different companies that would fit one car.. and not another.. When you are dealing with exhaust.. it's damn near impossible to have it perfect every time. When I bought my 3" from VRS... is hit the rear axle.. and had to be modified. You guys should know that NOTHING on a turbo car is perfect.. and it takes some work to get it all working.

Not that any of the next paragraph has anything to do with downpipes, but...

The thing about VRS is that it's mandrel-bent, and you can buy it in 2.25", 2.5", (2.75" also IIRC,) or 3" pipe, stainless or aluminized mild steel. It's mandrel-bent, and when you do order it welded, the welds are of superb quality. He also sells the exhausts complete with resonators and Magnaflow mufflers, but the cost goes up accordingly. VRS is getting to be pretty common in the B15 world, though pretty new to B13s. If only Manuel had a B14 and a P10 to play with! I have a feeling that if Manuel wanted to do downpipes for T25 and T28 setups, y'all'd be screwed.

Jason's downpipe is pretty homely. Hot Shot's downpipe is just about gorgeous, though I've never been able to see the cat end of the pipes. It's about 60% more expensive, but it uses 3" pipe and uses mandrel bends, and a smoother-looking (I have no idea what that means to performance) flex section. I didn't know that JWT made a downpipe, and I'm all but > < sure that the HKS downpipes do not fit US-spec platforms. Options are pretty limited...
