: SE-R Flyer... (please read)

Hey everyone, how many times have you seen an SE-R (B13/14/15) while driving around town that you knew wasn't part of the online community here? I know I see a new one every few weeks. Wouldn't it be great if we had more SE-R owners show up to events?

SE-R Newbie (Ed) and I started talking about it tonight and decided we wanted to do something about it. We figure the main reason a lot of SE-R owners aren't online is because they simply don't know we're here. They miss out on all the local activities available to them and we miss out on their presence. Remember, everyone of us found this place because someone told us about it... either through a link or by word of mouth.

Most of the time it's impossible to wait around to inform a fellow SE-R owner about our community. Because of this, we've created a Flyer that members here can print up on their own and distribute to any SE-R owners you see around town. Keep a few in the car and simply place one under the wiper blade (or other suitable place) if you see a parked SE-R.

Here is the link for the flyer, it is available both in Word and Adobe Acrobat format.

http://web.tampabay.rr.com/edswebpage/se-r_flyer.htm

The flyer is designed to be able to be folded into thirds so that the top third catches the eye. It's up to you if you want to distribute it this way. The flyer was also purposely designed to be easily modified so that any member here can modify it to distribute to owners in your own area (The Florida remark is the only thing that would really need to be updated if you live outside of Florida).

If you have any suggestions to improve the flyer, please post them! This flyer is just what 2 people were able to throw together. Imagine how good it could be if everyone interested here improved it. Take it, modify it, and post it back for everyone to see.

:D

A copy of this thread was started in our own Florida forum. You may want to start a thread in your own region's forum (or just post a link to this thread) as a lot of people don't read this general forum and might miss it.

uhhh the website link is not spelled right. It's missing the "u" in forum. anyone who gets this flyer should change it.

This is what I meant about the net causing laziness in work ethic... not *trying* to be harsh, but for as many newsletters and CD packages i do/have done, *no* typo gets out the door, printed.

With the web, its a popular mindset to have the ablility to *fix* as you go.

I'll create a PDF as well (when the free time arises), and the copyright will be freely transferable to whomever d/l's it. (Coming...)

I think it may attract a bunch of young ricer punks, and turn the forum into a Club SI. Just IMHO

Thanks for the heads up with the correction. I have corrected the spelling error ;) .

I want to say thanks for the feedback so far. I wanted to put my .02 cents in as for the reason the flyer was created. Yosho and I where talking last night at Beef's and stumbled on a problem both of us knew about but wished we could do something about it.

How many times have you seen a thread with the title "Who owns the (fill in blank with a color) SE-R located at (fill in the blank)?" I have personally seen SE-Rs driving around that I know or assume are not on the forum. I have personally talked to a few people with SE-Rs that did not have a clue of what they where driving or what they can do with their car. That is the main reason the flyer was created to spread the word about the car we own.

I am not sure about any ricers or young kids who may be attracted to the forum with the flyer but with information from this forum, other SE-R web sites, and the forum members we can give people a chance to learn about their car and meet other people.

This flyer was created so that Tampa members can go ahead and pass it out in our area. SE-R Newbie and I are just trying to fix a local problem. While we have maybe.... 20 SE-R owners from the Tampa area on the board, we know there are many more who are not and almost certainly don't know this is here. We didn't create this flyer for the general community originally, we created it for ourselves, but figured maybe other people would like to use it (and hopefully improve it) for use in their own area.

If you don't like the flyer, don't want to improve it or just don't think trying to get new SE-R owners on here is a good idea, then don't use it. We created the flyer for ourselves and are just trying to give the national community (SR20DE Forum) the benifit of our work.

If there is already a flyer that we didn't know about, can someone please post a link to it so that we can get ideas on how our flyer can be improved?

Thanks,

Scarpa

There was once a SERCA flyer that had similar info on it.

Just be careful what cars you put them on I would hate to have ricers on our forum. But anyways I think most owners of a Sentra SE-R love the car for what it is an most likely aren't ricers, we all know the general public performance enthusiaste (fast car guys) think the Sentra is ugly and a POS but I don't. Not to knock on the GA16DE powered vehicles but I see a hell of a lot more 1.6l riced out than I do 2.0l.

Sorry, Yosh. Didnt mean to create an atmosphere of negativity in your thread. On the contrary, I think its a great idea to bring this back from the dead (the SERCA one isnt there anymore).

I dont know how many times I see a bone-stock SE-R or NX2000 and wish I had a "get-to-know-how-lucky-you-are" piece to give the owner. Hell, there are two NX2000s in blue right down the street from me.

I think ricer punk kids will seek that sh*t out on their own. Who knows maybe we can get them early, before they've had time to "ruin" an SE-R.

Keep on keepin on....

If you are worried about "ricers" overtaking the Earth, then you need to do something about it. One great thing this site does it educate about the maintenance of our cars from our wealth of experience and also stresses the performance side of things. If you want to decrease the number of ricers in the world, having them read threads on this site will certainly help "convert" them.

My $.02

Oh, and I love the flyer. :) Makes a tear in my eye when people focus on the forum as the main place of SR20DE info on the web and they don't even consider the SE-R mailing list :D  :p ;)

llaprad1 > Don't worry about it! :D Both SE-R Newbie and I welcome any help that you (and others) can give in creating an improved Flyer. We just wanted to do our part to help spread the word about our communities home... and make it even easier for everyone else to do the same by making our flyer... public. Heck, if you printed one up and gave it to those 2 NX owners... that would be a great help! ;)

Ben92SentraSE-R > Thanks! I couldn't agree more with everything you said. We're just 2 guys trying to do our part for our area and wanted to share. We really appreciate all the work you and sr20deboston do (as well as all the mods) in creating a community home for us. Thank you!

I think it's a great idea to let people know about the forum. I've had my 92 SE-R for less than two weeks, and I've already used this forum to find a lot of great information (Search... learn it, love it).

However, reading the flier I found one line kind of awkward... "There are other people within your area that have the same unique car as you".

That just strikes me as a bit of an oxymoron, so I'd recommend replacing that "unique" with a synonym. Try one of the following:

exceptional
extraordinary
phenomenal
rare
remarkable

Other than that, it looks good :)

Yes! This certainly should be fixed. I noticed that when we created the flyer as well. We just became focused on fixing other aspects of the flyer and forgot about this one.

I like exceptional or remarkable... which do you like best?

Great job in pointing out this improvement! Are there any other area's anyone would like to suggest improvements on?

An area that I'd like some help with (if anyone here can) is with the Nissan logo at the top of the flyer. I think the flyer could be improved by resizing the Nissan logo smaller in order to fit a picture of the B13, 14, and 15 beneath it. Keep in mind the flyers need to be able to be produced in greyscale.
