I have a B13 SE-R and I want a GTI-R SR20DET but I was wandering who has em and are they worth it or should I go with the BB SR20DET? What are the ups and downs to them? Does anybody got specs or 1/4 mile times? And most of all should I go with a GTI-R or go with the BB?

well, if you plan on upgrading after the swap I would go with the BB, the ups of the GTIR are: T28, (vs. T25 on BB), beefier rods, ind. TB's, stronger bolts, studs, etc. It is easier to use the BB, in my opinion. GTIR parts generally will not swap out with USDM parts, so if you break something, it will be a headache getting a new one. even if you planned on keeping the GTIR pretty stock, I would consider buying a BB motor w/o the tubo or manifold, and just buying the GTIR mani, and turbo.

this is from: http://sr20det.nismo.org/srtech.htm
Here are the differences between the DET and the DE:
The DET has oil squirter piston coolers
The DET has a bigger oil pump.
The DET has a different front pulley.
The DET has lower compression pistons (8.3:1 vs 9.5:1).
The DET has bigger injectors.
The DET has direct ignition.
The DET has a variable intake cam, runs retarded at idle, advanced mid range and retarded top end.
The DET has mechanical shim in bucket type lifters with a slightly bigger in duration exhaust cam.
The GTi-R DET has individual Throttle body injection.
The GTi-R DET has stronger main cap bolts.
The GTi-R DET has beefier rods.
Hope this Help, also the GTi-R has a T28, and the DET has a T25

wrong
the BB/Avenir DET is about 95% the same as a DE. The only differnences are:
8.5:1 vs 9.5:1 piston
oil squiters
bigger injectors
you were quoting RWD DET parts. The AWD DET is different. Please check your facts before you state them.

Yeah I wondered if there was a difference

doesn't it also have sodium filled valves and an oil cooler?

 Does the AWD DET also have a larger pulley? Sorry, the last few on the list are for the RWD DET...

GTi-R
8:3:1
T28
Bigger Oil Pump
Bigger Water Pump
Bigger Oil Cooler
Bigger Injectors 444cc/min
Mechanical Valvetrain/Different Cams
Bigger Rods
Different ITM design
Bluebird/Avenir
8:5:1
T-25
Same oil pump as SR20DE
Same power steering pump as SR20DE
Same water pump as SR20DE
Same alternator as SR20DE
Smaller Oil Cooler than GTi-R/Some BBs don't have this
Smaller Injectors 370cc/min than GTi-R
Hydrualic Valvetrain same as SR20DE/Same type of Cams
Bigger exhaust valves and sodium filled than SR20DE by 1mm
Same Rods and bearing as the SR20DE
Smaller but deeper oil pan than SR20DE no chance of oil starvation oil pick up strainer is submerged more than the SR20DE
Same ITM as high port SR20DE (99.9%same)
