i ordered a carbon hood from fiber images after my car was a bit damaged in an accident almost two months ago. they were really cool about everything at first. the day after i ordered it they told me it shipped and that i would have it in a week or so. (they were shipping truck from cali to slc...you'd figure a couple days or so right). well this was on august 23rd. after i never received it within the one to two weeks i tried to contact them by phone, email, and fax. no response. i figured i'd wait, and in the mean time try to get ahold of them every other day. so for a month i just kept doing that (emailing, faxing, and calling them). no response. i didn't want to give up cause i wanted my damn hood! well finally today after almost two months i tried for the last time to contact them...nothing. i called the credit card company and told them to stop payment on the item....to my surprise they told me there were no charges from such a company!? ....so what the hell is going on with fiber images!? does anyone know if they're going out of business or already have...or are they just generally a really shitty company? also...i does anyone have any idea of another company to carries grade a carbon hoods for our b14?

I think you should probably change the word 'shady' in the thread title and ad a question mark. As written, the title implies that they have ripped you off. You have not been charged.

You could ask reliable?, competent?, got their act together?, customer service?, sketchy?

But saying they ARE shady is not accurate.

Did you order from FI or from someone else.
i know that VIS makes CF hood for our cars, but FI is the best you can get for a B14.

I had a similar problem with Importpartsplus.com(Avoid at all costs!)i waited about 2 1/2 months for my header and offered a reward for someone to go and pay the Owner a Visit.After contacting the BBB i waited about 2 weeks and it showed up one day
:) cool, but not 2 and 1/2 months worth of cool, i should've just bought a T28:D

yeah i did order it straight through fiber images. i heard that VIS made hoods for our car, but I called them before I even ordered fiber images and they told me they didn't....? Maybe the person I talked to didn't know what they were talking about.

no, they are actually balls to the walls busy last time I had heard. I ordered mine from diablo autosports www.diabloautosports.com and ordered it from mike (call and order from him, unless another vendor online here can get it) really nice guy and told me 2-3 weeks, so I wait a month, he calls them and tries to get a hold of them, and I am like "hey, what is the deal with them?" and he basically told me that there is like 5-8 people working there, in a garage with just enough room to do 6-7 hoods at one time, and they just get backed up, its not like they are kicking back and doing nothing, they are killing themselves trying to get the hoods together. good thing from what I remember is they are moving to a bigger facility, but that does not help you now. and yes, they are really, really hard to get a hold of, but I can almost promise you these guys will not screw you over. it is worth the wait, if I had a digital camera, I would show you, but I was starting to think "man, is it worth it?" and when riceboyz come close to popping curbs looking at your hood, it is totally worth it, and hey, it saves weight on your car (and use hood pins too :) )

oh, and you have to be one of their select vendors to order from them, you can't order directly through them btw :)

hey, thanks alot for that. maybe i'll replace my order in a couple months and i'll just wait on it. cause i agree, they really do make high quality hoods. i want one badly...anything is better than the dented up garbage on my car right now. =-) again, thanks...that kind of assures me.

that's what i thought too, but apparently he ordered through them. Fiber Images has a good reputation.
oh, and you shouldn't need hoodpins all of the hoods come w/ factory latch location.They are the best hoods out.

I ordered 2 CF hoods from my cousin thats buddies with someone from Fiber Images. This was back in Febuary. One hood for my buddies B13 and one for my B14. After several months of ...." the hoods should be done by next week " I just gave up and got my money back. Crazy thing was that right before I cancelled my order for my hood (B14) they finished my buddies B13 hood. So he got his....funny how things work out but yeah I guess they get really backed up but for the price we were getting the hoods for we can't complain.

If you want a true B14 hood... I would wait a few weeks for Mike Kojima's company to release the B14 hood... its made 10 times better than Fiber Images... Check out the thread for the NX hood that Boonie posted... More information in there...

Yeah really? I am waiting for the next batch of CF hoods to come out from Fiber Images... right now I am using the bent hood pounded out to latch shut... for now.

What exactly is 10 times better than the fiber images hood, that SCC has used on Mikes project cars?
