Boy ohh boy, this has been a blast. Today I fried wheel bearing #3. This lucky fellow happened to be the passenger side front bearing. In just over a month, I have lost 3 of my 4 wheel bearings. Fun time, ehh? In this same time period, I've replaced a ball joint and a flex pipe as well! Soon to be added to this list are front brake pads, a wheel bearing (this one), and another ball joint!

Anyways, here are pictures of the parts as we removed crap:

As you can see, that ball joint is completely shot. Kinda scary to see that. Ohh well. I've also discovered what looks to be a nasty oil leak that hasn't hit the bottum of my car yet. I'm not sure where it's coming from, as I haven't taken anything apart to look at it yet. But it looks like a decent size. Yay. :o

Anyways, we're pretty much done now. On Monday the hub goes into a shop to get the old bearing machined out and the new bearing machined in. We're ordering the ball joint on Sunday, and I've decoded tp order some Axxis MetalMasters to replace the pads on the front as they are past nothing. They still worked perfectly, though.

I'll keep updating. :)

What type of a shop are you taking this to in order to have the bearing pressed in? I can imagine a machine shop, but what kind. I mean, did you just go to any old machine shop and ask, or did you go to an auto service station and have them do it?

Thanks,
Curt B. Shumaker

I'm not sure where we're going yet. Probably just a local shop that can do suspension work. Most shops, from what I've been told, can machine bearings in and out. Sorry I can't be more specific. :(
