: Timing the cams, crank angle sensor (Rebuilding Head)

Ok, I may sound like an idiot, but here goes. I pulled the head on my redtop a few days ago and completely pulled apart the head. Don't worry, I labeled everything. I'm having the head professionally assembled. My question is how do I align the cams to the cylinders and also the cam angle position sensor? I noticed the timing dots on the cam sprockets. Someone tell me what I need to do.

Here goes:

With the number 1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke, the intake cam gear keyway needs to face the 10 o'clock position and the exhaust cam gear keyway at 12 o'clock. The cam lobes of the number 1 cylinder should be pointing away from each other.

Then, you need to have a total of 20 chain links *between* the dot on the intake cam gear and the dot on the exhaust cam gear.

To align the CAS, set the number 1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke (cam lobes facing away from each other). There is a notch on the non-movable body of the CAS. Align the right dot of the shaft with this notch before installation. When you install the CAS into the hole in the head, the left dot will now be aligned with the notch. You can only see this with the valve cover off. The bolts that attach the CAS should be about centered in the slotted holes for 15 degrees timing.

Good luck,
