Hello All,
Pretty White was chatting with me a while back when he was trying to link up SR20 owner websites around the globe. He asked me if there were any SR20 owners in Korea where I am currently working. I said that I couldn't think of any since they do not import Nissan to Korea other than grey market cars. Even then, only a few enthusiasts try to get their hands on them. However, I completely forgot about one car...

In Korea, the Samsung Motor division bought the design of the previous generation Maxima to sell as their own. The catch is that the standard engine in that car is .... an SR20! So as it turns out; there are LOTS of these SR20 owners in Korea. Here is an example with a nice turbo kit. I think I am going to try and find out who makes that manifold here in Korea:

You can also check out: www.sm5club.com but the site is in Korean

That is an awesome car and a great setup on that sr20! I can't believe it, I think I have almost seen it all now.

Next thing you know, people are going to be selling genuine KDM emblems to convert your Maxima into a Samsung.

:D

Boy would that be an interesting conversation.

It's a Samsung!

A what?

A Samsung SM5.

That valve cover is sweet! Appears to have the spark plug wire valley cover like the Mitsu 2.0's. That picture is missing the cover though.

Here is more info:

That is really cool. I wonder if we could get some performance parts of theres for our? Also I have had friends stationed in korea (and I just might too) and they say the exchange rate for dollars to wan (sp?) is really good so does that mean we could get parts for dirt cheap? kinda cool. One of the reasons I would not want to go to korea is the fact that you cant take your car. BUt if I went over there I would just stack parts:D

The car is running a MAP sensor. That looks like a good manifold. Do you have any more pics? What is the Currency exchange any how?

I will try to find out as much info as I can about the SM5 Parts. I am mainly interested in the turbo manifold you see in the picture. It really does look like a nice piece. And if it fits the manifold of our SR20's then it could be a nice options to the current offerings of the turbo manifolds in the US. Not saying any better but just another option. I willkeep everyone interested posted.

PS. The exchange rates are actually LOWER than they have been in the past. So if you end up doing the math most things are comparable in price to the states. However some imported goods are taxed quite heavily here (like Japanese cars and parts) :(
