Well, today being me as I always am, I got on my car when I left the stoplight..just for my personal enjoyment (I wasn't racing). Bounced off the limiter in 1st, spun through 2nd, spun through 3rd. As I approach the next stoplight I smell oil burning... and then smoke coming through my vents and coming up from my hood.

I pop the hood, but the only thing I can see is smoke POURING out from behind my alternator. Are there any oil lines or anything like that behind there? Or did I REALLY screw up this time and probably popped my headgasket? I can't seem to get the car to smoke If I park it for 5 mins, and then start it. But If I move the car 10 ft in my driveway by tapping the gas and letting out the clutch a little, it will smoke.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance :(

Check your fluids!! Make sure you have coolant in the car! What your car overheating or anything? Possibly your waterpump froze, Have you been having any stearing problems? Im just trying to eliminate the possibilities of it being your headgasket.

Could be lucky and:
1. AC Compressor (if you have one) the pump froze and belt is spinning and burning (happened to me)
2. Same thing with the waterpump/belt

To check, get under the car and look at the inside of the belt -does it look slick and cracked?

Hope its nothing major...

No oil leaking?

What about oil level?

When my power steering line touched the pulley for the power steering it cut the line and I smoked also. It was the first time I got into the car hard. (1k clutch break in) I thought it was the snail but it actually was the powersteering fluid flying all over the place:eek: I would check all of the fluid levels as the others suggested.

The oil dispstick is behind the alternator; maybe you lost the stick and crankcase pressure is blowing oil vapor onto the exhaust manifold.

Is it oil smoke, rubber smoke or steam?

If your runnin the stock bb oil and coolant lines you have both down behind the alternator.

Check your valve cover gasket and around the cover itself as another possible suggestion. Any oil getting on the plugs? Hope not, but is worth a check.

Well guys, found the problem :D

Looks like an oil line beneath the Turbo split open. I just dropped the car off @ the mechanic (I'd do this myself but I've been so busy with work and school it'd take me a week). He's giving me a good deal. I was talking to Jay Hass for a while and he told me that its hard to pop a Stock HG as they supply up to 500whp no problem. As soon as this is fixed, I'm gonna start doing the race stuff (Battery relocation, remove AC Compressor and piping, etc etc etc.

Thanks for all your input! Its much appreciated!
