Please, don't flame me for asking these questions but i can't really get answers from the search function.

What Are the Difference between the two turbos.
From what i understand:

The t28 has a larger exhasut housing making spooling time slower, and will be able to handle 270WHP, where is the T25 has a a smaller housing. Even though both Turbos are the same size, correct? And the t25 will handle a max of 250whp. Am i correct about all this?

Yes, the T28 is a T25 with a T03 compressor.

another question: at what boost levels will the t25 and t28 make their respective "maximum" power?

t25's also come with t3 comp wheels....mine is a 60trim that flow 31lbs/min. good for ~300hp

I think he was talking about a stock T25. But yes the t25 can also be matched with a T3 compressor.

a T-25 with a T3 or TO4 compressor wheel/housing is a T-28

hey sonnypippo,
I'm no expert, ,but I'd say that they both probably reach full boost by 3k rpm's.

No, quite incorrect.

(Hope that link works). Neither are spool dogs, both are making usable boost by 3000 RPM, and both are very good turbos for street-driven cars. T25s tend to wheeze when you crank up the boost much (12-14 PSI), whereas a T28 can last a bit longer before reversion is a serious issue. This is mostly due to the different turbine capacities, I think, which is only partly because the turbine housing is larger on a T28.

thanks. would max boost/power be influenced by the type of manifold used? the t28 (gti-r) manifold flows better than the t25 right?

p.s. cowboy, the link didn't work for me.

The answer is yes. A GTi-R manifold promotes better spoolup, but I don't know by how much. Grinding off the casting flash and a couple of nubbins inside the manifold plus Extrude Honing makes either manifold better, but moreso for the 'R. If there's any chance that you might outgrow a T25, the 'R manifold is just an all-around better investment from the start, anyway.

The link didn't work because se-r-list.org is set up in a paranoid way. Go to same, and search the archives for a message by that title.
