well i have a classic right now and i want to eventually get a BB Det, but i'm worried about having problems with the transmission because i've heard about some people going through a lot of them. I dont want to go through this and i was thinking that if i could find an 89-93 240 that i could use the sr20 tranny that the Jspec DET comes with? Plus i really can't afford any downtime with my only car(the se-r).I was really thinking about the BB or the FMAX stage II, but i dont want to spend all this money if i could have done it right in the first place by going RWD. Dont get me wrong i love my se-r and wouldnt trade it for anything.
What do you guys think about the 240 and what are the downsides of it. I know its RWD which will get me a whole lot better traction and i also heard the car is great on twisites, but what have i left out here?

DO IT! I love my car so much, but S13's kick ass. So easy to work on. Good launches, handling, ect. Just my opinion, I'm sure I'll get bashed for it.

Go for it man. My friend has a 95 240sx with a DET swap but American tranny, he dogs the shit out of it daily and the tranny has never given him any issues. Most of the times I envy him as he dips down the road and i sit there slowly taking my time shifting smoothly, taking it easy on my FWD Tranny ;)

just swap out the bell housings.
get an s13 coupe! better yet buy mine! i miss my coupe cause i dont drive it for insurance purposes s13's are better imho lighter and the looks of a s13 coupe cant be compared!
i would trade my b14 for another s13 make sure if you do go sr try to look for a 91-93 so you wont have the powersteering issues but its not that big of a problem

I'm probably looking for a fastback mainly because i dont like the way the coupe's rear looks. Plus i might oneday want to get the 180sx kouki tails.
so the coupes are lighter than the fastbacks? by how much? and what is the weight of each one?

THERE is not much in weigh difference you can still build your ser i have a nx2000 im going for a bluebird thats it stock THATS IT. if you here problems with ser trannies is becuase a lot of those guys are making monster horespower 280+whp. im building a 240 two my nx is just for daily driveing a stock boost it should last for a long time . then build your 240 without woorying about breaking things. you have to have 2 cars to have anything fast these days not because a problems becuase getting jspec parts takes time. and if you decide to build your ser just don't go to nutty if you do then buy your 240
