ok so i have an s13 blacktop sr and i have something that just seems odd. ive never timed a motor before but it juts doesnt seem right.

my problem is that when i go to set my timing i turn it to tdc and i get to the point where the cam gear marks and the marks on the chain line up fine, then when i get it back to that point again they r both off by 2 teeth to the left??? i dont get it is this right it just seems odd

Is the car running or Did you just install new cams, or timing chain? It sounds to me like maybe the timing chain is on the cam intake stroke and its rotating ahead of the exhaust cam causing it to be teeth off...If its running and its 2 teeth off, you need to get the marks right or you could bend a valve very quickly...give me some more info...

Is the engine out? ;)
