well i went thoroughly through the advance procedure and advanced my timing
my question is ,if i place the timing light at the pulley it says 15 degrees and when i unplug the tps it says 19 degrees
so which will be the correct timing mark ,i did the procedure with the tps disconnected hence the 19 degrees
i noticed the rpm was about 800rpm and after adjusting my dizzy slot its about half, i've seen pictures with other dizzy almost completely turned to the firewall that read 19 degrees

i know what your saying,on my se-r when i did it as soon as i unplugged the tps the rpm's jumped up past 2,000 so i was confused since the instructions say they should be at 800/1,000rpm. wish i had the answer but what i did was take it to a shop they charged me $20 and advanced it to what i wanted then were even kind enough to retard it for emmisions then back up again when i was done.good luck bro!

warm engine up to operating temp, wait for the fans to kick in

rev engine 3 times not exceeding 4000rpm

turn off engine

disconnect tps

start engine

check timing and adjust to where you want it to be at

tighten dist. bolts

check timing again

turn off engine

reconnect tps

you are done

That won't work.

rev engine over 3000 rpm three times

disconnect tps

connect tps

adjust timing

Maybe it was adjust timing, then connect tps again but you should be able to see a fixed idle with the timing light, that you will need to make sure anyway before adjusting

The TPS has to be disconnected to check/adjust both timing and base idle. With it connected, you are fighting the ECU.

Warm the engine
Disconnect the TPS with the engine at idle
Rev to 3k 3 times
Check and/or adjust base idle
Check/adjust timing
Connect TPS
