Time to move on...offering my NX up for sale. First, answers to the most common questions:

Where? Central Connecticut

Pics? Here's what the car looked like when I bought it (from someone off this forum). It pretty much looks exactly the same except the airdam and nose is painted, the rockers are removed (see details below), and it's sporting Kosei K1Ts wheels now.
http://www.gatm.com/cars/93nx.html

How much? "Not cheap". Add up everything that's in here, toss in some token labor costs, and you'll see why. Let's start the negotiations at $9999 (a freakin' bargain, IMO) and we can go from there. But don't bother with the lowball offers, I'll part it out first.

"Will you sell xxx from it"?/"Are you parting out?" No. But if I choose to later it'll be over the winter when I'm bored and after I've enjoyed driving the crap out of it this summer.

"Will you deliver?" Maybe, if you live someplace interesting and cover all expenses, including the flights home for me and my wife. I'm game for a good highway cruise...

The Details.
I'm probably missing something, but if I am I'll add it in here after.

1993 NX2000

- Electric Blue
- 191,xxx miles on chassis.
- ZERO rust, came from the Carolinas. NEVER driven in the snow.
- Body is in great shape, only a few minor door dings
- Front airdam in great shape.
- Comes with another uninstalled FACTORY NEW front airdam
- Foglights removed but parts included.
- Euro H4 headlights with installed functional height adjustment switch

- T-tops do NOT leak, but the visible rubber edges on the glass are cracked.
- T-top interior shades in great shape, no damage
- Comes with t-top bags
- Overall paint is "ok" but it could use an overall spray.
- Comes with mold for making aftermarket Fiberglas lip (from race car days).

Engine
- SR20VE engine, installed summer 2008. Runs great.
- Engine oil on Mobil One since I got it, changed every 3000 miles.
- Hotshot Gen 6 header, 3" collector outlet, to 3" VRS exhaust, Walker catalytic converter. Passes Connecticut dyno-based emissions.
- VRS Exhaust uses Borla muffler; installed removable exhaust outlet insert to control highway "drone"
- Comes with uninstalled brand-new-in-box Dynomax VT muffler

It's a great looking car, and the mod's are all about improving the driving experience - nice!

But if the price stays around $9,999, then I predict this car will be for sale for a looooooooooong time! The problem is that people are only willing to spend a certain amount for an NX or SE-R of this era... even when you know that Greg put tons of his money and sweat into the project, you're not going to pay four times more than "market value" for an unmodified NX/SE-R.

Just my opinion, so I hope for Greg's sake I'm proven wrong!

Eh, doesn't kill me if it doesn't sell. But I think I've put together a nice package. And if you like the way this package is put together, and you'd like to have it this way yourself, it would "behoove" you to mentally add it all up and see what it would cost to replicate it.

This car will have no attraction to someone that doesn't like the combo. But for the guy that does, you simply cannot do it this well any cheaper.

Hes actually right- im reading the entire list and was saying to myself-:eek2:
Thats a lot of parts that id be getting along with a bad ass car! Maybe 9,999 might be a little steep but somewhere a little less is still an unbelievable deal for someone looking to go racing or is an extreme enthusiast such as ourselves. Even if you didnt use all those parts, you could still sell them- stay with the car and part out the extra parts and still make some revenue back- Why sell such a nice car is my only question- its awesome! Good luck with your sale bro! :biggthump

Boredom, mostly. Except for people that have a lot less "automotive ADHD" than I do, project cars tend to be "relay races": some guy starts the project, gets to a point and loses interest, the next guy grabs the baton and goes a bit further, then loses interest, and so on. That's why you'll see cars sitting out on blocks behind the house, cars that "I'll get to some day". I, however, recognize the boredom and would absolutely HATE to have something like this rot itself into the ground while trying to convince myself I'll "get around to it someday", I'd much rather pass that baton onto someone else that can appreciate it.

I've enjoyed these cars since I had one new in 1992, and the SR20VE made it even better (Nissan shoulda brought that engine into this country, it would have been able to compete with maybe even the Integra Type R). I got this car from a guy that kept it in good condition, did my mechanical magic to it, and now it's time to pass it on to someone that'll finish up the details.

Who's the right person to pick up that baton...?

Thats very well put,Greg.I like the relay race comparison:D
This will be great for someone who appreciates the mods and what you have done to the car....so that may take a while to sell.
Look at Strattons NX...he couldnt muster 8500 for that beast of his.

GLWS.Wish I had that kinda expendable income, because I would love to take that baton from you,and run with it...;)LOL

Nice car. In my head I was like: "Finally a really nice NX for sale". Then I saw your asking price. It's good that you don't need to sell the car, because it may be yours forever. Not trying to be rude, again, as it is very sharp and well built.

Didn't notice the price, better luck with a part out. Still a beautiful car.

Tell you what, I'll make you a killer deal: you tell me how much you'd like to pay me for a very nice NX2000, and then edit that list from the first post to remove all the items that you think it would take to get down to that number. I'll de-content the car to your price/value point and "part out" all the removed (or not included) parts left over. This way YOU get to decide how much NX2000 you're willing to buy.

I'm totally serious, not being sarcastic. You figure out your "buy" price, we'll negotiate what gets removed, and I'll start prepping it for you.

Back in 2008 I offered Ray Kawski $11,000 for his VE-equipped NX2000 before I started building this one. He declined. We both knew that cars like this can't ever be built for that kinda money. We were right.

I understand. My intention wasn't be condescending. I've been around for a long while, and just know how this usually goes. I'm simply saying that you should just keep the car. The demographic of folks that are into these cars, generally speaking, aren't rich folks, and don't have $10k to toss around for a 20 year old car. Most people that have $10k+ cash available to be used to buy "toys", don't even know what a NX2000 or SR20VE is.

I hope you get every dime you desire, but the odds are heavily against you. Forgive the comparison but, last year I sold a Mazdaspeed Protege (only 2000 ever made) with a built block, GT28rs, PAR Engineering full straight cut tranny & quaife LSD, etc... for $6,800. There was $13,000 worth of parts alone in that car. The markets for some cars...just sucks. Again, good luck, it's a really nice car.

To directly respond to your offer, I highly doubt that we could come to a mutually acceptable price, regardless of what parts are removed. I do appreciate the offer.

Let's bump this with another offer: Almost anything listed on my first post that is *not* physically attached to the car right now can be parted out. I'll keep a running total here of what I get (minus shipping costs) for those parts, and those amounts will be directly deducted from the selling price of the car. Eventually the car and all its remaining extra parts will be at a very attractive price to someone.

Kinda like a reverse eBay deal, where the more someone buys the cheaper the car gets...

Also, I just ordered $350 in A/C parts (new A/C compressor, rec/dryer, seal kit) to get that running again; my Audi S4's steering rack started puking oil last week and the Egg is now my primary ride until I get motivated on that task. And it's hot out there.

I may also get motivated to put in the softer 8610 struts in the Egg for a better ride, making the revalved 8611-RACE Shigspeed struts available. Inserts are $200 each, revalving to race specs was $150 each, no idea how much I paid Shig for those tubes. Make a reasonable offer. I'd also like to replace the Borla with the Dynomax VT. neiother task will be done until maybe next week or so, as we're prepping the race car for Watkins Glen this weekend.

So, call your buddies, stop being cheap, and buy stuff.

;)

Replaced A/C compressor and rec/dyer last night with new (not reman!) parts. Charged up and works great.

Remember, all loose parts available for parting out.

Out with the old dashboard, in with the "new" (well, not NEW new, but much better than before). One less item you'll have to install...

If someone wants the old one free for pickup (no shipping), speak up, otherwise it'll be landfill.

Stratton, sent a PM some time ago, no response.
