: Help!! Urgent Help Needed!! Asap
JRios 10-09-2002, 11:23 PM Okay, so I decide to install my pacesetter header today. After I finish the install I notice that my dome light isn't on. Then I proceed to start the car. No lights come on in the instrument panel, check engine, ABS, airbag, seat belts, nothing. No A/C, no power windows, no moonroof, wipers, windshield washer, reverse light nor radio. Nothing works. The only things that work are the headlamps, tail lamps, and the light on the instrument panel. I checked the fuses inside the car and they were all good. Any ideas? I really need to get this fixed ASAP! TIA
SupaBlackNX2k 10-09-2002, 11:26 PM Check on the positive battery terminal. There are two wires that come off on the side clip, one goes to the alternator and the other one is a six inch wire with harness on both ends. This is a fusible link and its easy to fry it. Wiggle it around and try and feel if it is broken. Hope that helps...
Mike
Rittmeister 10-09-2002, 11:31 PM Don't take this the wrong way, but if you disconnected the negative battery terminal, did you put it back on? I've done this on occasion myself. If it's not that I'd check the fusible wire that Supa mentioned.
SR20RACER 10-10-2002, 01:39 AM correct me me if I am wrong but if he didn't have the neg. terminal on the battery he wouldnt have any lights at all. Just think back about what you may have touched/removed when installing the header and doublecheck everything. Good Luck

Did you disconnect the battery when you installed the header?
If not, you probably grounded the positive post on the alternator with your wrench when you were removing or torquing the left farthest manifold nut.
This can cause two things to occur, possible three:
1. 30A Electronic Ignition fusible link blew
2. 75A Battery fusible link blew
3. Your alternator is shot
On the '96, both fusible links should be located in a fuse box bolted to the drivers side fender beside the battery. Atleast that is where they are located on the G20. When you check the fuses, make sure you pull them out completely. It is hard to see them from the top.
My 75A fusible link blew. It was only a $12 part. But the alternator was on it's way out so I replaced both. The alternator had antifreeze leaking on it for several months because the prior owner did not know. All it was, was a loose radiator hose clamp. (dumb ass)
JRios 10-10-2002, 12:27 PM Brandon, your the man!! I owe you one. It was the 75A Battery fusible link. Thanks for the help everybody, I really appreciate it.

THIS IS GREAT INFORMATION !!!!
This has never happened to me.. but I think people on the forum should put this on the check list, when installing headers!!!
Awesome!!

Woohoo! Glad I could help! :D
Hey Sub_Function. Could be an addendum to the install for the idiots who don't disconnect there battery when working on their cars. Or should I say one idiot (like myself :p ).

Hey I just wanted to say thanks for your little personal experience post, I had the exact same problem, putting my header on, shorted out the alternator tightening the far left bolt, no electronics worked, got on here, did a search, read your post, fixed my problem.
thanks man!
