: Am I asking too much for my engine & transmission?

I have posted a local ad on craigslist for my JDM sr20de and the 5 speed that's in my 1996 200sx se-r. Anyways... I went to car-parts.com where all the junk yards have there stuff listed and it looks like in my area this engine averages about $500 & the 5 speed averages $450.

My 5 speed has 230,000 miles on it. I only know the history on the last 80,000 since my dad bought it. He had a new clutch put in 45,000 miles ago. It doesn't slip or anything.

The engine is JDM with approx. 80,000 miles on it. It purrs like a kitten. No smoke out the tailpipe or anything.

2 people called me the first day I posted it wanting the engine & transmission. Based off the averages at the junk yard I told them $750 for both thinking it would be a fair price and I could move it quick. I even told one guy I'd go down to $700. He said he'd give $450 cash today.

They both basically said I was crazy for asking that much. One guy said he could find a transmission all day for $150.

I'm thinking $500 for the engine and $250 for the transmission. Are my prices out of line or are these just your typical Craigslist lowballers???

What do you guys think I should be pricing these for?

Thanks,

Shawn

Typical CL lowballers. Stay firm on your asking. Let's see that person get a B14 trans all day at 150, apparently he hasn't.

B13/B14 transmission in working condition should be $250 minimum.. especially if there is no 5th gear popout... now about the JDM DE.. $500 seems a bit steep, I just bought a VE for $680.

You might ask $350 for the motor, and settle at $300
