Hi guys,

I'm a newb to this forum but a long time nissan guy. I currently own a DET b13 but will be selling it soon. This is actually my second b13 SE-R that I'm trying to flip, and I'm going to use the money to get a daily driver.

I really like the B13, but I am going to need a very reliable 4 door car with good mpg, AC, CC, and preferably ABS.

The B13 I have is far too nutty in its level of modification. It darts all over the freeway and follows ruts in the road, has too stiff of suspension, motor mounts, and clutch, and it is quite a handful to drive fast (too much power/torque steer!). Ideally I'd just like something thats more dulled down, slower, easier to control, and easier to live with everyday, something I'd feel okay letting my wife drive without me. I never thought I'd say the suspension is too stiff, exhaust too loud, clutch too difficult, wish it had AC/CC/ABS, and wish it was heavier so it would feel more stable. My 18 year old self would have smacked me in the face if he heard this nonsense!

I am trying to decide between the p10 G20, and the B14 sentra 4 door. They both seem to be around the same price range and both have their merits.

G20
Pros:
Some have LSD's
I believe all have ABS and AC
Already have an SR20de
Usually better equipt than the b14

Cons:
seems like most of them are automatics
probably heavier than a b14 (can you confirm?)
Older, usually

B14
Pro's:
LESS TAN INTERIORS
I think their interior is more modern looking
I'd guess their lighter weight
easier to find in manuals

Cons:
do not all have SR20's (do any 4 doors have them?)
Dont think any have LSD's
Doubt all of them have AC/PS/ABS
I'd want to do an SR swap as soon as I bought it LOL
They seem to be throw away commuters to the rest of the world, so I've seen a lot that are in terrible shape

Can you add to these pro's and cons?

I'm not sure if one chassis is inferior to the other. I am pretty sure the B14 has a solid rear axle, and the g20 has multi link. Also do b14's have rear drums? Is there a certain trim level I should look for, or avoid?

I realize I could find answers to these from some extensive searching, but I'm also looking for opinions from people who have owned, daily driven, and/or raced with these chassis'.

I appreciate your help, and any constructive criticism you might have.

Thanks!

G20 for sure
It is heavier, most are autos but better all around. less road noise, etc. It is a "luxury car"

B14 in 4door is the GA16 engine no sr20 available in those, so you would have to swap out.

Just go with the G20

99 SE-L (B14) had the SR20 in them and were a four door. They are a bit hard to find though. Although it will still have a rear beam suspension (CON).

The G20 will probably fit your needs better for a peppy daily driver, even with the bump in weight.

id say go the G20 route. ive had 3 g20's and 2 se-r's. i just recently sold my 93.5 5spd g20 to a freind & i had a jim wolf pop, adavanced timming, jgy crank & water pump pulley, headers & 2.5 exhasut. i raced him in my se-r when it was stock and i smoked him bad. id say the g20 has the disadvatage of being maybe 300lbs heavier and the gears must be diffrent because the se-r revs much faster but i beleve a G20t transmission is identical to an se-r transmission. the g20 though does handle waaay better than any of my sentras could and only on tien springs and low profile 17's. keep in mind p10's have higher redlines than the p11's so they are more fun, more peppy. auto isnt so bad in a G20,my ex has a 96 G20 auto. i dumped the cat and installed a k&n with a midifed stock box. her (maybe all) car has a switch to control the tranny sport/normal/cruise, put it in sport and floor it and it will chirp the tires and redline everygear. still hard to beat abs,a/c,power everything and on accasion you can find one with decent leather. go the g20 route, just know that with even bolt ons it wont take down an se-r no matter how hard you try :)

also my first G20 was more "hardcore" it had cai, full pulley set from jgy,8.5lb flywheel,6 puck clutch from jgy, timming advanced,3 inch exhaust, headers, cat delete, low weight 17's and fully stripped trunk,no spare or jack. also removed a/c compressor and all. damn thing was pretty fast i had it around 2002 and guys in (then new) se-r spec V were always trying to race me,i never lost. shoot only race i lost was to a gsr with headers and he got me by only a car length, even he was surprized. i think if i had more $$ i would of went with cams and a g20t tranny and i might have been on to sumthing...

Get a NICE G20. Drop a DET in it. Just don't go crazy. It should be a nice ride like that. Lots of suspensions options for it as well.

My old ride was a 4 door B14, with VE 185+whp (Sentra SE), If I had just put a quieter exhaust on it, it would have been almost like driving a factory car. Very comfortable, even with the GC 300/300lb springs. People forget that the frame of the car is what creates ride comfort. So the newer the car, the stiffer the frame, the better off you will be on the final project

-P10 G20 handles the best of all the sr20 equipped FWD cars,I think the 91-93 is lighter or close to the B14 too.The new P10 and P11 are pigs.

-4 door B14 only came with an sr20 in the 98 SE and 99 SE-L

That should narrow it down.

Just go with the G20

The B14 Sentra SE and SE-L both came with the sr20de from the factory. They also came with the sweet 15" SE-R wheels (including some with the factory "gunmetal" finish). Just check under the hood first haha.

If you do go for a G20, find a G20t, those have the factory equipped LSD.
