Anyone know what a CV joint going out sounds like. There a ratchet sound when I'm slowing down and speeding up, and when I turn left. Nothing is rattling on the car, and I took apart the brake caliper to see if anything was rattling.

I had the right front cv joint repacked only a few months ago, could they have not done it right and mucked it up?

Is there anything else obvious that I'm missing here?

usually you will only hear them when you turn sharply in a parking lot or something, they just sound like a clicking noise

I've had 3 CV joints go, each with different symptoms:

1. Stereotypical clicking on turns.
2. Groaning/creaking on turns (not the motor mount)
3. Grinding rubbing (sounded like bad wheel bearing or brake pads touching, but was neither)

Its weird, I know.

Mine just went. Passenger side. I got the click on slow left handers for awhile. Bummer.
Anything can do it. Just a few specks of dirt in a cracked boot, and eventually it's a done deal.

It's a front wheel bearing. I should know, I've replaced both on my car.
