Who has totaly stripped the interior of their car? I mean everything except the pedals, wiring harness, ecu, steering wheel, and seat. Is there anything to watch out for, or needs to be left?

Sammy boy, what are you doing!! Keep your clothes on man!!! Maybe they just do stuff differently in KY, but we need the warmth up here in MI. There is a thread or two about guys who removed all the tar and carpet and everything that could help. All the plastic panels are easy, most snap on.

To get sound insulation off... use dry ice. Just put it on the insulation, wait a bit... then you can just crack/chip off the insulation. Much easier than trying to use a solvent or a heat gun. Some Publix supermarkets sell it around here. You may want to try your local supermarkets and see if any carry it.

I've taken care of the tar and sound deadening already. I'm wondering what else has to be left in when you totaly strip the interior.:)

My car weighs 2480 with a half tank of gas. It will be less than 2250 when I'm done. hehe
Well, that is my goal, but I might be even less.

I have stripped most everything in the interior. I can take digital pics if you want. Check out monkey-r.com for pictures of some of the se-r cup cars and the gutting they have. Hope this helps.

there is a faster and easyer way. air hammer

I have gone on a good diet. I start in the morning with a screwdriver(I am thristy :D) then in the afternoon I use bodysaw. You dont need floors, door panels or a dash for that matter.

When I took out my tar I just did it on a hot day and peeled out the whole sheets with almost no effort at all. I guess it's kinda late for that now since it's october and all though.

The benefit of dry ice is that it keeps the adhesive on the tar. With an air hammer or a hot day part of the adhesive is left on the flood and It sucks to get off even with solvents. I did dry ice on the floors and usedd a scraper on the wheel well and vertical part of the back seat area. I spent more time cleaning adhesive from these 4 small areas than I spent on the whole rest of the tar areas!

Yeah, that stuff is really sticky. I never could get it all off from under the back seat, so I just left it there.
