Every time i turn (only at low speeds like 15 or slower) my passenger side front makes a snapping noise. I removed the wheel and found that the bar coming from my steering rack that connects to somewhere behind the wheel(I presume this is the axle:confused: ) It has about a 16th of an inch of play in it!! And when I move this part it makes an eerily similar sound leading me to believe this is the problem. Im not sure what would make this do this because this part is only about a year old(still has a like new WHITE sticker with numbers on it) I had a 4 wheel alignment 3 months ago they installed a magnum cam. I dont know what that is or if it has to do with this. Anyway I removed the cotter key from the hub and tried to tighten that big nut but it didnt budge! Any suggestions !?!? Thanks Pru

you talking about the tie rod end?
if its that id get it fixed, i dont really think its a good idea to let steering parts just go unnoticed.

its definately not the tie rod end that was my first thought but the 2inch (roughly) diameter bar below it is what has play in it. Im not sure if thsts a half shaft or axle or what??:( seems like the snapping is getting worse though!

does this bar go directly into the hub?

I'm guessing you're describing the sway bar/sway bar end links. Tighten all the bolts that attach it to the control arm and the "U" brackets that hold it to the underside of the body. If that doesnt fix it, you may need to get new end links. Beck/Arnely sells them, I would get the beck/Arnley end link and get the ES bushings for the sway bar.

I have a driver's side axle problem (inner CV-joint, best guess) that I'm about to replace. There's a binding groaning sound when I turn at low speeds or stop/start moving. Also, there was slight, but noticable play in the axle when I checked it.

You could have the same problem if you're talking about the axle.

The car will drive, but you should have it checked out very soon.

I have this same problem too. More than a month ago I saw the ripped boot. I'm just trying to find the time and funds to get goin on it. I think one of the bearings flew out a few days ago. While accelerating I heard a metallic clunk hit the floorboard right under my clutch foot. After that, I started getting the groaning sound.

Yes It does. Thats why i thought taking the cotter key out from in the middle of the rotor and tightening that nut would fix it (I thought they were connected) But no dice on that!!

its the axle then, if the cv boot is ripped then theres about a 99.9 % chance youve got a bad cv joint.

I see the more and more I thought about it and read other posts I thought it could be the cv joint so now I can at least check on that. Thanks for having patience a few more years and maybe ill know all the parts:cool: pru
