: Turbine A/R ???

Can anyone help me on choosing the right Turbine A/R for a Turbo conversion of my SR20DE engine,(1992 Sunny/Pulsar N14 2.0GTI) ??.

This engine has a little higher compression ratio (10:1)(euro spec engine),and factory specs are : 105kw(143hp) at 6400rpm and 178nm at 4800rpm.
(Allthough I dynoed it at standard to 120kw(162hp) at 6724rpm and 184nm at 4693rpm):)

Now....my intention is to fit turbo, intercooler etc. to this engine with a modest boost pressure of 5-7psi.
My plan was to put a Garrett T3/T4 unit on the engine, with the compressor being a T04B-S3 trim.

I want boost to be at approximately 3000rpm to redline (7800rpm).

My question is....can i use the 0.48(0.49)A/R T3 turbine without getting too much backpressure in the exhaust manifold, and still be able to reach the redline, still without too high backpressure??.....or......should I go with the 0.63A/R turbine, and will this produce any boost at 3000rpm?.

I hope that one of you guys has experience on this, since I'm building this engine with focus on long-term durability.(Again the low boost pressure is one of the reasons).

Thanx in advance

With the higher compression, go with the .63 you will begin to bulid at about 2500 and be in full at 3000 or a little higher. As for the compressor housing, scrap the to4b, and get a to4"e" with a 50 trim wheel and inlet. The to4e will support more hp, and in general is better than the "b" housing.

So you want a
T3/TO4E .63 exhaust housing, 50 trim compressor wheel and housing.

Ok...I looked at the compressor map for the T04E-50 at Turbonetics webpage, and i guess you're right about the compressor being better suited for my engine than the old T04B-S3 trim.
And I'm happy that you could help me out on the turbine A/R,because i want as low backpressure as possible, and not neccesarily a quick-spool-up turbo.
So...thanx again :)
