I have recently come across a good sr20 in a junk yard. The only problem is someone took the valve cover off and then just sat it on top kinda sideways. the cams have some rust on them. Is there any way to resurface them, or am I gonna have to buy new cams for it? If i have to buy cams for it, i think i would be better off not buying the engine.

If the cams have rust on them, I'd bet the bottom end is full of water too. I'd pass on it.

but my main question is, are the cams servicable?

Take some WD 40 and a rag and see how rusted they are. It might just be a light coat of surface rust, or they may be pitted beyond use. I would still be wary of them.

Pass. God only knows what has gotten inside that engine with the VC off.
