Depends on what kind of lowering job you want to do. But yeah, either way you will need new struts. KYB AGX's seem to be the favorite around here, they go for around $400. You will also want to replace the bearing in the top of the fronmt strut towers, and the strut boots if it is not intact (probably the rear ones arent)

You'll need an alignment afterwards....:D

how much does alignment cost

That varies. Alignments are usually 35 and up depending on two or four wheel variety. Not much compared to the damage that can be done if you don't get an alignment done.

The alignment shop may suggest camber plates. I would suggest you go for it if they do. More then 1 degree of camber tends to eat tires quite quickly.

Theres a good read at http://www.sentra.net/tech/garage/suspension.php.

Ground Control and Cusco make camber plates that I know. They install at the top of the strut tower.

There is another much cheaper option. There called "easy camber bolts". Unlike the camber plate on the top of the strut the camber bolt goes into the knuckle at the bottom of the strut. They cost $30 for a pair which is better then about $200 a pair for plates.

Mechanics I have talked to on the subject have said the bolts are easier to adjust and work as well. Myself, I have not had the motivational energy to experiment and compare. My gut thinks the bolts aren't as solid, but I would never claim my gut to be an authority on anything.

I thought I'd plug around to see what was on the market for a b13 nissan.

Progress Camber kit - $149

Cusco Camber plates - $288
http://www.optauto.com/webstore/product_information.asp?number=***-212410&variation=&aitem=2&mitem=6&back=yes&dept=270

I didn't bother looking for the best prices, these look spendy. But, now you have a couple pictures and partnumbers ; )

will the alignment shop get and install camber plates/bolts for you if they feel you need them? or is that something you have to do on your own

I'm sure your alignment shop can provide some options for you. You can deal with it when you know if its an issue or not. No worries, find some good springs and struts and slam the car.

anyone know if NTB (national tire and battery) is any good?

I was at NTB the other day pricing tires, they seem pretty good, but this is what they told me...They will not install any aftermarket suspension parts on any car, only stock parts, they also said that they have alot of trouble getting lowered cars on their lifts....I guess that they don't want to be responsible for messing up anyone's ride.....Their pretty good on wheel and tire prices though..............
