Go over to Ebay, and look up *** ANdy, Private message him, he is an american that lives over there, I believe in Okinawa, but I'm not certain. Any how he may be able to help point you in the right direction.
Quick92Se-r 10-18-2002, 02:22 AM Thanks I will pm him. Hopefully he is here I would like to buy a few other parts to while I am here.
CarbonBlack200 10-18-2002, 02:36 AM I would try to find the salvage yard or some used car place and buy the whole Silvia or 180sx for cheap. (they are usually super cheap) Most S13-14-15 in Japan are modded and there are "usually" a lot of wrecked ones sitting. Yank as many parts (Engine and other JDM goodies) as you can and just give the left over car back. I know it is hard if you don't speak Japanese, but if you have enough time, try to find a friend speaks Japanese.
Oh, try to say "Engine utte Kuremasenka?" if you see a kid with Silvia or 180SX. That means "Could you sell your Engine?" :D
Good luck.
*Wait.. Were you looking for a FWD DET?
Quick92Se-r 10-18-2002, 03:00 AM I am looking for a front wheel drive det. All of the salvage yards that I have driven past have all of the engines in one big pile under no cover.
CarbonBlack200 10-18-2002, 03:16 AM FWD/AWD DET cars are a lot harder to find than RWD cars, but Bluebirds are probablly cheaper than Silvias. You can buy the whole car for less than 100,000 yen for sure. GTI-R are a little more than that. Go to the local bookstore and find a used car magazine. Later version of U12 or U13 Bluebird with FWD turbo should be the one.
silverser99 10-18-2002, 03:25 PM Go to one of the tuner shops and write FWD Sr20det on a napkin
SmoothDaddyFig 10-18-2002, 08:28 PM stay away from "Whisper Alley" !!!
LOL.
$10 sucky sucky.
I had some great times over there in Camp Hansen.
I had a Turbo 323.
Good luck finding a DET.
Quick92Se-r 10-19-2002, 12:53 AM Yeah I still have a good time every so often. I normally just go out to East Coast and have a bowl of Mojo. I have looked at a bluebird and looked through the window to see if maybe there was a boost gauge (stock) and nothing. It looks like a family sedan. And the Avenir those are station wagons nice looking ones at that. I don't want to buy the whole car just the engine to drop into my 92 SE-R. I have plans for this car now that I am going through a divorce.
" Go to one of the tuner shops and write FWD Sr20det on a napkin "
What is this going to do
silverser99 10-19-2002, 06:16 PM When you show them the napkin with the words FWD Sr20det they'll bow down and sing shalom and then sell you a sick ass sr20det with cams and all kinds of sick tomei, jun, HKS, Trust shit
xDennis 10-22-2002, 01:37 PM Goto, www.tomei-p.co.jp and request a catolog (you may need to translate the webpage at altavista.com)
Being how you are in Okinawa they will send you a free catalog with Tomei goodies. And request one for me also;):D :p
Hope you find all yur sr20 needs~!
Quick92Se-r 10-23-2002, 01:41 AM I will email them and see what happens. Once I get mine I will try and get another one. Thanks
spicez 10-23-2002, 02:43 AM Actually, if you write FWD SR20DET on a napkin, they are going to laugh at you and say "Silly Americans..."
Avenir, GTi-R, and Bluebirds are all AWD. But thats ok, because you dont need the tranny. (make sure to remove it before shipping, it'll save you some money).
slipper 10-23-2002, 04:55 AM dang okinawa has some mean drifting action. check out the "murder" drift crew, i got a few friends down here in the same crew.
