: '03 SERCA National Convention- Please Read

Ok, guys, I know some of you have been wondering about next year's convention. The SERCA Plains states region is planning on holding it here in the Kansas City area. It will be broken up into 3 days like usual. One of the days will be the track event at Heartland Park Topeka (http://www.hpt.com). We will be running on their 2.5mi road course and will have access to the track for the entire day. I haven't determined prices yet but I'm wanting to get a feel for who I can count on to run the track event. This is mainly for planning purposes right now. If you would like to commit to running the track event, please let me know by sending me an email at sr20de@kc.rr.com with '03 convention in the subject line. Please do not post it on the forum as I am more likely to see it if you email me personally. The convention is scheduled to be held the weekend of September 12-14, 2003 so this should give most of you plenty of time to save up for this. I'm *guessing* it will most likely be around $150/person for the track event with a likely discount for SERCA members but this is not a certainty at this point in time. I just wanted to give you a ballpark estimate. So, any of you guys who will be running the track for sure, please let me know so that I can start planning this event. As I have more info and updates about the convention, I will definitely post it.
Thanks,
Brad Woodworth

If you're coming to the '03 National Convention and want to run the lapping day (who wouldn't?), go ahead and drop him a line.
I've already told Brad I'm in. http://www.sr20deforum.com/images/icons/icon14.gif
Hawaii_SE-R 11-12-2002, 07:56 PM For those non-members who do not receive the SERCAMembers posts, there may be a change in venues for the 2003 SE-R Convention:

Due to the financial instability of the company
running Heartland Park Raceway the 2003 Convention
will probably have to be held in Southern California
on memorial day weekend where So Cal SERCA just
happens to have an open day that Friday at Streets of
Willow Springs Raceway. Thanks to Brad W. for taking
the steps needed to try to get the convention out in
the midwest.
That is unless another region wants to step forward at
this late date and pull off an event at the last
minute. I am pretty sure only So Cal has the resource
to do so at this time.
I think we can tentatively have something like track
day Friday, dyno day Saturday, show, picnic and shine
Sunday. Plus lots of extracirrcular activities like
optional public drunkenness and projectile vomiting in
between.
What is everyones thoughts on this. Remember it does
not have to be in SoCal, its just that SoCal can pull
it off and has the money and resources to make it
happen.
I don't really want to here opinions from those who
are not willing to do some footwork and organizing
either. If you want it in your region, let your
region exec sign up for it.
What a downer. Here's the back story on Heartland Park:

Slartibartfast 11-13-2002, 10:00 AM Dad gummit!
Now I have to listen to Naji expound as to how his Toyota is a better tow vehicle than my Dakota.
At least I'll win the "Longest Tow" award.
Hawaii_SE-R 11-13-2002, 06:17 PM OK, the latest is that it may be held somewhere else now. SoCal is currently the backup if no one can organize the event soon.
SouthEast region (Florida) is looking into hosting and seems the only strong possibility at the moment.
llaprad1 11-13-2002, 06:29 PM I could totally dig on FLA.

South East is not only FL. I'm the one looking into places around here. One of them is Nashville. I've contacted a local track, and I'm waiting to hear back.
Hawaii_SE-R 11-14-2002, 01:55 PM Sorry Eric, must have gotten you mixed up with the Eric in Florida.
eric96ser 11-14-2002, 02:17 PM Its okay, everyone does. During the IRC chat days, he was Eric_FL, and I was Eric_TN :)
qinsac 11-15-2002, 11:01 PM So what is the status of the 2003 SE-R convention? If its in So Cal, I'm down.
Q in Sac
david 11-17-2002, 03:13 PM Its still up in the air right now. Some of the other regions are waiting to hear back about tracks.

Toolapcfan 11-18-2002, 09:59 AM Too bad KC was a bust, that's a 3 hour drive for me. No way in hell am I driving to FL or CA. I wasn't willing to drive that far to get my SE-R, I'm certainly not willing to drive that far to blend in with hundreds of others! ;)
97 Black SER 11-28-2002, 02:08 PM aww man, you're definately missing out. The se-r convention is a great time with a great group of people. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it this year because i'll be out of the country.

BORNGEARHEAD 11-28-2002, 11:02 PM Is there nothing close to the middle of the country? I don't understand why an event has to be near the coast. I was really planning on going since it was in Kansas City but if it is near the coast a LOT of people will miss out. That just sucks. I don't mean this in a rude way.

It really comes down to where in the country there are suitable tracks available and most importantly, where there are SE-R people willing and organized enough to set a Convention up.
They don't have to be near the coast, it's just that there are more of both on the coasts as opposed to smack dab in the middle of the country.
JimmyNX2000 11-29-2002, 12:15 PM hrmmm. What about Indianapolis Raceway Park? the have a drag strip and roadcourse. Ive been up there to an SCCA Club Racing event before. its not really in the center of the country though. but it would be about the same distance for everyone. you also have Gateway in St. Louis. but i dont think it is a roadcourse.
sr20boston 12-04-2002, 04:01 PM Stay tuned for more excitement. This thread is unstuck.
